Got them put on today. 205/55R-16 Bridgestone Blizzak WS70

My last 2 cars were FWD and used crappy toyo proxes 4 A/S, so I'm hoping AWD+Blizzacks = this winter

Deja vu all over again, first big snow of the season, I'm still on my AS tires and car needs work. Last year my radiator blew before the first snow, now one of my trans lines is leaking.

With this system coming in on Friday/Saturday, I hope I don't have to hear about some girl again making the AWD system look like a total piece on a known freeway in Chicago, ehh speellnik.

Not exactly snow tires.... but they are my winter setup. They are all seasons... and gonna see how they do in the snow and stuff. First year with an AWD car. I changed them out about a month or so ago.

Blizzaks are only good for first 2 years, then the soft tread compound is gone, and you are stuck with worthless hard rubber tread, and must buy new every 2 years.
They test good new, but compare them to all others after 2 years, and blizzaks fail against others that have 2 years wear.
I rock Nokians, they are good till the tread is gone. Michelins are good for 5 years as well.

A lot of snow tires have the initial soft compound with harder compound deeper in the tread for tread life. It also depends a lot on how you drive... 2 years wear will be different for everyone. I was able to get 3 winter seasons and 2 rallycross seasons out of a set of Winterforces with a decent amount of tread left.

I would love a set of Hakka R's...

I put mine on Wed night. Found out sti brembos swapped on my LGT barely clear my winter wheels (rota tarmac 3's)
Too close for comfort

Had to go buy some 3mm spacers the next day.

Well we finally got enough snow to make it worth putting on the snow tires. 3 to 4"

Of course I did a battery of tests to compare the new General Altimax Artic against my bald Kumho 711's.

200 feet acceleration. Kumho 711s - 21 mph. General 32 mph

Braking from 25mph. Generals stopped in less than half the distance.

Way more fun to drive now too.

We got over a foot of snow. With a stiff breeze it made for some big drifts so we decided to do some deep snow tire testing last night on a non-maintained road:

Needless to say I got stuck after getting high sided in a big drift. Luckily there were a bunch of us out there.
