Default Open ECU boost cut - several questions

06' WRX -- TBE, VF-39, HKS SSQV, TMIC, SRI.

I'm currently running Open ECU w/ the stage 2 Cobb OTS vf-39 map 91 octane. I am located in Ohio and running 94 octane however, I do not a 93+ octane map available to me. After drilling out the pill to Cobb's specifications and replacing the vaccum line with an auto zone line (tore the old one trying to get the pill out) I am still having trouble with hitting boost cut, which should not be happening. My question, is the auto zone vaccum line (harder rubber) perhaps not functioning as well as the stock subaru line, potentially causing the pill to shift or turn on its side decreasing the air flow cuasing for boost cut? Would I be able to run a boost controller to eliminate the pill and the problem and will it be compatible with Open ECU? Or will upgrading to the GM solenoid perhaps play any role in fixing this? Any input is greatly appreciated.
