Any idiot can rewire an ignition switch to feed the starter relay directly. You didn't read my post. The OP will be removing the entire LGT ECU and cluster. That makes for an easy swap, great. Before he said that was his route, I stated the solution to how a swapper can retain the OEM cluster on an LGT. Good luck getting the LGT cluster to do anything other than sit inactive without going through the exact steps I outlined. You can feed it whatever you want, but without completing the steps I outlined, dead cluster. I'm friends with the guy who did the GM V6 swap that kept AWD. Been over this problem a dozen times.

Will be cool to have a V8 LGT in the USA. Been a long time since the last LGT V8, and that guy posted almost no technical info. I think he had a shop do the swap for him.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just buy a CTS-V?

What part of NC? When it's done it'd be cool to see it in person!

Actually I considered putting the Legacy back to stock and selling it for a CTS-V or G8 but I want something unique and am too attached to the Legacy so I am going to build the V* in the legacy and am going to a have an STS 3.6L daily driver

Thats exactly why. I can pick up an 04-05 STS with around 100k for about $3500-4000 at the auction.

I picked up a 00 deville for $680 after auction fees the other day. Being a car dealer really has its perks. Fixed evrything that was wrong with it for less than $100. Hoping to get 35 for it- do you like maroon?

Haha, yep I am a dealer too so that helps out. Maroon is amazing. That Deville is a great tax season car. I am going to start stocking up on those $500-1000 cars here in the next couple months.

Next time you have the engine out or are under the car with a camera, could you snap some pics of the front crossmember made compatible with the GTO pan? Thanks!

Nice pick for the valve train, hope you don't have to buy new pushrods.

Here are some pics of the other car we are working on. Showing the modified miata subframe, custom mounts, modified f-body oil pan, and custom shifter on the CTS-V T56

We notched the subframe further so the engine would move back toward the firewall and test a 3/4 in. shim in between the subframe and body to drop it lower

Haven't updated in a while but the heads came back a couple weeks ago. I ended up replacing all the intake valves as there were 4 that were confirmed as bent. The shop re-did all the seats and milled the heads 0.03

As an FYI, I was able to buy the LSA intake valves as they are the same size as the L92 valves I had. For reference, that part no is: 12605223 and they run just under $5 each and I was able to get 8 of them for around $42 shipped

I took the bellhousing off the transmission and mounted it on the mockup motor. I also placed some shims on the subframe to lower it about 3/4". I had to make about a 3/8in dent on the drivers side of the tunnel so the bellhousing would clear.

I then put the motor on jackstands and aligned it into place. The steering rack now has much more clearance and went from being about 3" below the subframe to about 1" below the subframe. The motor still has a little room to be raised so I may only have to drop the rack about 1/2" which I can make up for with a bumpsteer kit

The intake sticks out only slightly and I am able to close the hood but it very tight but I should be able to slightly modify that portion of the hood to clear

We made some progress in the last few days. The Miata is on the ground with the Engine, trans and rear end mounted. We have started wiring it up.

On the Subaru, we cut out 3/4" subframe spacers from aluminum and got the subframe in position.

Then we trimmed the subframe so we had enough clearance to be able to weld rectangle bar and steel plate in to reinforce.

We were able to get the engine level and positioned and started welding from the engine mounts towards the frame rails.

The plan is to use the rectangle bar to get from the mounts to the frame. then weld the bar to the subframe and then we are going to user 1 1/2" square bar to make a box around the oil pan and connect it to the radiator support at the front. I will post some pics shortly of where we are so far

Pic of new, much improved steering rack clearance

Starting to build the new subframe
