OMGHi2U But Lou Reed!?!?! [The Sequel]

So, the other day, I was talking to some guys I work with, and I brought up Lou Reed.

The 26 year old guy: "Who's Lou Reed?"
The 27 year old guy: "Didn't he sing 'What a Wonderful World'?"
The 28 year old guy: "Never heard of him, have you heard of Marvin Gray?"
Me: "You mean Marvin Gaye?"
Him: "Whatever"

It's official, the future is doomed

Of course it does, like anyone in L.A. knows about music. Next you're going to tell me there are a lot of actors out here.

I understand the common word shared by both groups, but if anyone had payed attention to the music either group performs, they would realize how incrddibly stupid they are. I like to think people are smarter then that, I guess I have too much faith.
