Go to DMV, pay 10 bucks. Get a printout of your record. Or start a highspeed chase, once you get arrested. You can ask the booking officer what your record is.

There is no "points" system in IL.
You get "convictions" that can go on your record if not erased by supervision or traffic school. You can do only 2 traffic schools within 1 year from your first offense (one is 4hr, second is 8hr) If you don't "erase" your convictions then: 3 convictions = suspended license Not taking care of your moving violations (getting convictions) is the worse option since they stay on "record" for 3 years and Insurance companies can see it, subsequently raising your car insurance premium. |

Go to a Secretary of State office ( DMV) & get an abstract of your license
& yes Il. does use a point system that's mostly what Ins co. use to determine your rate ( along w/ credit info ) costs like 6.00 or something ? |

I have about 5 other speeding ticket's in recent 3 years and they were never able to see them because it was always taken care of through a supervision or traffic school. |

Illinois Points
IDK how to find out how many points you have. They aren't printed on the driver's abstract. But the State of Illinois does have a point system:
ILLINOIS TRAFFIC OFFENSES POINT ASSIGNEDWill result in suspension or revocation of driver's license and/or privileges when three or more offenses are committed within any 12-month period. The action is determined by the severity "points" of the violations and the driver's past record. http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/pu...dsd_dc1913.pdf To say that convictions get erased from your record by supervision or traffic school is not quite correct. Supervision or traffic school prevent a conviction from being added to the driver's record. Dave Wood e.g. 11-605 Exceeding the maximum speed limit in a school zone - 20 points Last edited by Scooby Coupe; 12-11-2007 at 04:18 PM. Reason: Above link lists points assigned for each offence |

11-601(b)(05) 25 mph above limit - 20 Points
11-601(b)(09) Over 29 mph above limit - 50 Points first offense over 3 years ago. second offense 8 months ago. (While I was in court they asked for prior offenses. and they did mention the first offense.) I racked up 70 points in over 7 years of driving. Last edited by NITROS; 12-11-2007 at 05:06 PM. |

in my opinion, this is all 100% false information...heres why i speak from first hand experience going to traffic school will not erase convictions. infact, your record does not erase from the information i have gathered. in april 2000 i caused a rear end collision 2001 i was busted for speeding 4 times within a 1 year period(went to traffic school 3 times at $75 a pop) feb 2002 lost my liscense for 1 year because of the 4 tickets in 2001 feb 2003 recieved my privelage to obtain drivers liscense again may 2005 recieved a speeing ticket for 10 over( payed the $75 guilty plea and avoided traffic school) august 2006 payed the DMV $12 for a driving record everything on that record i purchased in 2006 is on there, from the accident i caused in april 2000 to the minor speeding ticket in may of 2005 i was pulled over a few weeks ago NOV 2007 in my beater for loud exhaust and the cop was cool, he also knew of my previouse driving history because he said "glad to see you havent been speeding in a while" so as far as i know from my own personal experience, driving records do not reset. also, i have caused 1 accident in my lifetime and been the victom of 4 others, not once has my insurance rate ever gone up. i have state farm (they did drop me for 1 year when i lost my liscence, and it was kinda a pain in the ass to get insurance through them for 6 months after i got my liscense back)..but they insure me now. |

What you got is what prosecutor usually brings to the court with him. I'm talking about the record that insurance companies or companies that care about your driving record (anything that involves driving company's car) view. Your driving history is kept for 5 years. That's why DUIs stay for 5 years and are visible to everyone since it's a major offense. |

OK, I'll go ahead and date myself
In Illinois there are two types of driver's record abstracts. One is typically used by employers and the other is for Court Purposes.
My 'employers type' abstract printed on 1/24/07 shows one item - a collision involving personal injury on 9/23/04. That's it - just one item. However, my Court Purposes abstract, also printed on 1/24/07, is two pages long and lists infractions going back to 1978. rallymaniac, in Illinois, your driving history is kept for life. On my Court Purposes abstract, my DUI of 1988 is listed. On my 'employers type' abstract it is not listed. Insurance companies usually obtain information from a company like ChoicePoint. ChoicePoint provides credit info; a Motor Vehicle Record, which in my case was the same as my 'employers type' abstract; a Current Carrier report that shows past car insurance policies; and a Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange report that shows insurance claims history. Guys, it's a complicated matter. Start by going to the local SOS office and get copies of your abstracts - both of them. Court Purposes and the 'employers type' abstracts. See for yourself.
