Track in Grand Junction (READ THIS!)
Hi kids! In light of JJ's recent post I thought I would elaborate a bit about the new track in Grand Junction. I would have posted this as a reply to his post, but i wanted to make sure that everyone saw it.
The info that JJ found is correct! There is a new motorsports park that is in the process of being built. The 8/10 mile "asphalt" she is referring to is the go kart track section of the park and as you can see from the specs, it will be big enough for solo type events! They already have the Supercross/motocross section of the park complete. What's more exciting to me is that there will also be a full-on 1.8-2.2mile road corse that will be built to full AMA spec.! For those of you that don't know...AMA requirements are more strict than SCCA's requirements for events like World Challenge and Trans Am. I don't think I need to point out to you that this is in OURbackyard now! Not the east or west coast! This is REALLY going to K-I-C-K-A-S-S!!! Don't you agree? curtis

YEAH!
Now if WorldPark could just be built, then we would have something to really get excited about. The last plans for it including a world class super speedway oval (NASCAR), a world class Road Course, a drag strip of course, a dirt oval, AND A DEDICATED SOLO II CONCRETE PAD!! Along with that there was a museum, space for several car-related businesses, a playground, ballfields, and I'm sure a place where the rallycrossers could play too! Unfortunetly though, the residents out in Watkins didn't like the idea and struck it down. It will get built, but the question is to where they can stuff it down people's throats. I heard a BIG rumor they were looking now north of Denver on I-25. "If you build it, they will come" |
