Default Project 818

Any of you guys looking into building a Factory Five Project 818?

https://www.factoryfive.com/kits/project-818/

It's a kit car from Factory Five Racing that uses a WRX drivetrain. 1800 pounds, mid-engined, RWD. Kit price is $10k and should be finishable for a total of $15k (depending on what donor car you find). The ideal donor car looks to be a 06-07 WRX

Factory Five Racing is based in Wareham, MA so kinda local

I thought I'd start a thread here since y'all know way more about the drivetrain than I do It'd be awesome if someone else around these parts is also planning to build one

I was planning on building one until I saw the final design. It's a little too awkward looking for my tastes. Hopefully they'll make a coupe version soon. It looks like an awesome platform.

I am working on both a street and race version for a customer over the winter, looking to have both completed in time for the WBM 2013 see you there.

Excellent choice. I bet the 207 will be the best stock engine for these

I just picked up my donor car, hoping they'll be on sale and a few built before summer so I can see one in person. This will be a car with extremely limited functionality, not sure if I can make that work.

Im pre-ordered already for the street version. Using a 04' wrx with a 16g as a donor.

1800lbs and just shy of 300whp... yeah this ought to be a good time.

Factory who? racing?

In all seriousness.....save ALL of the emissions stuff and ALL of the stickers. Everything under the hood, the "unleaded fuel only" one, the emissions ones in the engine compartment....everything. Massachusetts makes it near impossible to register any kit car now.

Tell us more, old one. I haven't been able to get much info on the new kit car process for MA, apart from the issues you went through a few years ago. Is it even practical to register one of these in MA?

The SEMA bill allowed cars to get through for one year. That's done and my understanding is that it's now reverted back to the same EPA rules that 1 state enforces. You guessed it. To truely be updated, check on the forums. FFCars is dedicated to.....well.....Factory Five cars. Here's the northeast section:

http://www.ffcars.com/forums/24-northeast-region/

and in Factory Five's forums, the northeast:

http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/forum...st-Discussions

You would want to probably ask for new info.

And yes.....I was born in 1846. Fought in the struggle to stop the rebellion, you know.

They tell you everything you need to know until April of 2011, after which, the sema bill ended.
