Question What is the Armpit of your state?

If you had to choose a place.
And Why?

Examples:

Yuma, AZ
Bakersfield, CA
Yakima, WA

Gary, Indiana

Aside from the outrageous amount of crimes and murder that occur there, it is the birthplace of Michael Jackson.

Just me but I think I'd have to vote for the Tacoma area over Yakima for the arm pit champ in Washington. At least the "gangsters" in Yakima only shoot each other

I wouldn't call Yuma the armpit of this state. Parker, Holbrook, and some of the shanty towns up in Navajo County are a lot worse.

As for other states I've lived in:

VA - Richmond
NJ - Camden

Caldwell is pretty bad, I was there last week. I was trying to eat lunch and some ladies were letting their little **** trophies run around and scream and climb on stuff.

Aurora, CO is the worst place here.

FTW

I would put some southwest cities in that category way ahead of Richmond.

All of McDowell County, WV. It was a big coal mining county until the 50s and 60s. Now, 38% of the population are below the poverty line and the population is about 1/3 of what it was 50 years ago.

Fayetteville, NC - Sweltering, humid, sandy, stinking home of Fort Bragg.

Shelby, NC gets an honorable mention.. perhaps it's the buttcrack. Highest violent crime/capita in the state.
