Never understand why people think the stock WRX internals will hold a 1.5xt-r. Just never saw the rationale. I would love to do a setup like this, but I think I'm only brave enough to go 18g or 20g tops on the stock block. Either that or go e85 or water/meth injection with the VF43 and see what we could get out of that. Too many options.

In for update's as your running a similar setup as I. I'm currently in the process of having a fmic fabbed and getting retuned to see how the 2.5xtr responds. Happy to hear you went with Andrewtech for the build! I can't say enough about what a great shop Andrewtech truly is! I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

What are the build specs if you don't mind sharing? Andrew and the team have taken amazing care of me over the years. I didn't go with them for my recent motor build, but had circumstances been different, I would have in a heart beat! You will be incredibly pleased I'm sure!
My motor build specs: - Stock heads (d25) - 06 Wrx Long block (original from car 55,000 miles on it) - Cosworth 99.75 mm pistons - Eagle rods - Oem WRX Crank - Oem bearings - Oem head gaskets - Gates racing timing belt kit - TGV deletes - emmisions air pump delete - DW 850cc injectors - Walbro 285lph fuel pump. - 11mm STI oil pump (clearance's opened for increased oil volume) hot idle: ~ 30 psi. Above 3,500 rpm hot: ~90 psi - Oem exhaust manifold - Tail 38mm external wastegate, v-band uppipe, and dump - Invidia catless dp (wrapped) - Mishimoto giant x line rad. - Custom Agile Auto FMIC (In the works now) - Custom Agile Auto race exhaust - Custom Agile Auto CAI (being fabbed with fmic) - Killer B oil pickup - Cosworth oil control baffle - Stock oil pan. Just curious how similar our builds are and interested to see how my 2.5xtr will compare to your 1.5 xtr once pushed to similar levels. I should have my car back by April to share my results after going fmic and retune on pump for now. |

My V7STI Bugeye swap with a Dom 1.5XTR, EBCS, CAI, catless exhaust put down 360WHP on a conservative 19 PSI tune on E85 and 320 WHP on 91 octane.

Andrewtech put my hybrid together as well. New ej257 short block with weisco 99.5mm piston, nitride crank and stock 2.0 heads. Then later I installed a Dom 1.5xtr 10cm made 367whp and 363wtq on 93oct at IAG on 21psi. You will really like your setup!

Your gonna love the Dom 1.5 with the built motor. My car was one of TopSpeed's first test mule and I made 408/429 on E85 with a stock 2.5 and stock TMIC with a conservative 23psi tune. We are almost finished with my new motor (the old one finally broke a piston with 125k miles) and now we are gonna really push the Dom 1.5. We are hoping to break 460hp on E85. Possibly even more than that.

Bump for updates on how your build turned out and is holding up?
Mine blew on track catastrophically from a head gasket failure, which resulted in cylinder 3 hydrolocking sending the eagle rod through my block while I was going about 120mph at Summit Point on the main straight ( Not even 3 event on this motor and only around 2,000 miles) Ultimately was my fault for not pulling in as soon as felt the car start pulling timing and feeling a little off. I stayed in it because I didn't want to believe something could be wrong with my new "built" motor. Never make that assumption! Rebuilt with all cosworth internals and pinned and o-ringed the block. Hope this one holds this season! Here's to 2014! |

Bueller? Guessing you don't check back on your thread much. Anyone else running a Blouch 1.5 or 2.5 xtr? What mods and what kind of power are you making? Just curious for my own amusement.

Kind of sad...
These threads bring a tear to my eye...
I have been there. My own build took about 9 months start to finish and was never blocked by finances. Stuff just comes up... (turnkey/tuned to turnkey/tuned) Great turbo choice though. I tried the 20GXTR as well, but it made less power and had nearly the identical spool characteristics on my setup. I have a Dom 1.5XTR 8cm 2.4in great turbo (lots of other bolt-ons) Running it on stock heads/cams on a stroker 2.6ltr bottom end 92 pump 345whp/360wtq on a Surgeline's stingy Mustang dyno. (available on dynodatabase online to compare against other STI/WRX's) Most stage 2 STI's are making 300-330 wtq and less than 300whp. The torque of the tune/engine is amazing. Spools right with stage 2 setups, but then keeps on going. |

Ive been rocking the 1.5 10cm for awhile now. DD on E85. 422whp
Mod list is typical stuff. ELH, TBE, Wally 465, ID1300, aeromotive rails, aeromotive fpr, ptfe -6an fuel lines (rails are parallel), 73mm maf cai, inlet, 3port ebcs blah blah blah. Do all work myself as its a hobby. Car is a blast to drive, but now I am seeking a turbo that can give me the same whp on pump gas and even better on teh corn. (prob a GTX3076) |

I agree 100%. I make 22lbs by 3400 RPM and transient response is just like the VF48 was. Its a great turbo. I just can't take full advantage of it right now as I am on the stock block and the only reason I am changing is because I might as well while I am in there for the motor build. 420whp in the STi is tons of fun, I just want to make it on pump so I don't have to refuel every day and run E85 when I want to get crazy. After tons of shopping and talking to shops, Ill be going with the P&L turbo kit and FMIC. But for now the DOm1.5 is tons of fun. |

I'm looking at this turbo for my 2010 WRX that is currently making 331/374 with the stock VF on 93'ish octane. Was wanting to do this turbo. How much power can my car safely take? I would like to think with my mods (aftermarket TMIC, Tomei Headers, etc...) plus a stronger clutch, injectors, etc that I could make 425hp/460tq or so on E85. If my motor can handle that...great! If not. Booo! Thanks for any feedback. =) Last edited by boost-o-matic; 02-25-2014 at 12:44 AM. |

I wouldn't say it would be safe to run that much power in your stock motor
