Default 04 STi ECU reflash confirmed (ping fix)???

Has anyone heard of this I seen it on http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32121 !! What I got to wonder will the Cobb Access Port do the same thing or only the Factory Flash???

As far as I can tell, this is the "ping fix"




Basically they just cut out 1 degree of timing from the higher load areas in the base ignition map. If you have a 2004 STI, you can just load the last 2004 STI ECU calibration (AJ243, A2ZS710J) with Openecu tools.

Stick to 93. Why would you want to get rid of the one thing that gives the early 04 STi's an advantage!

They make more power than the later ones...

Yeah I heard only California 2004 STis had that problem and needed this like in 2003-2004...Little late there buddy.

I never did it to mine and never had any problems.

My very early 04 pinged hard even on 93 octane.Couldnt even go over 3/4 throttle on warm days.

I had the first 04' STi off of the Lot. My STi would ping "sometimes" on hot days, at WOT, after sitting in traffic. Had it flashed, I've never heard it ping since. (but I do think its a bit slower ever since.... )
