THANKS! that's really helpful knowledge, think I'll pick some up just in case.

The purpose of the bushings that Nameless sells is to hang the exhaust slightly closer to the bottom of the car. The urethane hangers that they sell are slightly shorter than the stock hangers. And yes, they are harder so the axle back will not wiggle around as much as compared to using the stock hangers. And being made from polyurethane, they will outlast the rubber stock hangers. I suggest purchasing 5 hangers when ordering the axle back. Two are used on each side of the axle back, and the 5th one is used on the mid pipe. This helps to hold the entire exhaust in the correct position.

I just finished reading all 27 pages of this. I have one small question that I did not see answered.

I have a hatchback which is known to be quieter than the sedan. It was implied that getting a full turboback would be louder than just the axleback on the hatch. I am wondering how much louder it would be. I think that muffler delete for the sedan would be too loud for me, but it is hard to tell without hearing it in person.

My guess would be not much louder decibel-wise. I'll be able to tell you more definitively once I get the down/mid pipes installed. I already have the fully muffled axel back. FWIW, the axelback sounds good as-is.

It depends on which one you get, the quietest setup is the original version hatch exhaust with the resonated midpipe. The downpipe will add a bit of noise but the resonator doors a great job of managing the output.

Just give them a call, John will always answer questions.

Our new hatch exhaust has been released. We have 4 sound levels now: The original quiet version; a louder version that uses two of our 5" mufflers that we build in-house; a louder version that uses two of our 4" mufflers; and a muffler delete that sounds like the sedan muffler delete.

the new options are explained better here: http://shop.namelessperformance.com/...eback-exhaust/

On a side note, we released the 5" version of our sedan muffler replacement axlebacks as well. They are quieter than the 4" muffler replacements.

On another side note, we have our catless downpipes available for pre-order now for the 2008+. We also have made our downpipe for the 2002-2007 WRX and STi available for pre-sale, these are available in both catted and catless flavors.

Thanks for all of your support, we appreciate all of you guys (and girls).

Please don't PM me for questions, we can be reached at 360.263.5001 or you can reach me by email at [email protected]

Love the sounds explanations. Could i assume than that stock for the hatch is a 1 so the magnaflow option is just barely a increase in sound where as a 4" setup would be huge? Or is it not that pronounced.

this video is a comparison between stock and the magnaflow option. it's not much louder.

Don't right off their OG hatch exhaust, the Magnaflow is not that quiet. I'd say it is subdued compared to other subarus I've heard with clear full 3" exhausts. Listen for yourself, this is mine with stock DP, non-resonated Nameless midpipe, and nameless (using a magnaflow) axleback. She rumbles for sure.

Right after install:

Recent brief clip (exhaust is now definitely broken in)

BTW, John, the new options for the hatch look beautiful! Guys looking now are lucky to have such a sweet set of options; I'm sure all of them will be of the highest quality and sound great.

I recently took off the exhaust after going through the winter to clean it up. The stainless they used looked like new after minimal polishing, very impressive.

I'd be very interested in an axleback for the 2011 wrx hatch as well.

I don't mean to burst everyones bubble, but if you want the noise order a j-bend, a nice looking tip, and a flange. You will spend under $70 on materials and $100 if you don't know the welder. I spent $65 total for my muffler delete. Sure its not stainless and freakin awesome looking like what Nameless Performance has done. My plan is to go all out with the turbo back this company offers, but I will probably piece it together. What is nice about their product is that it's the same thing whether it is the axle back, catback, or turbo back. The exhaust can be built as a modular unit.

Question for those who've gotten a midpipe...when you put the two sections together, how close do the v-band flanges sit? I got mine in today, and just lining the pieces up, it does not seem like I'll be able to clamp it.

Pictures, for reference:

Rear section:

Front section:

I've got an email out to Jason, but I don't see how the flanges are going to get close enough to sit in the channel in the clamp. Will update when I get it sorted.

Might not get much response, mine is only a couple months old and there was no extension for one end of my pipe to slide into the other, it was just flange to flange and sealed fine. Looks like you have a brand new design.

Looks like that is how they are supposed to be. I just got a reply that said the pipe should have been trimmed. They are sending me a replacement today.

Just installed the axelback on my sti and it is amazing!!! I am dreaming! It's literally just right for me. It's not even loud and cruising in city traffic is ultra aggressive but not nasty

Been about 3 weeks on the sedan axleback delete (that I got 3 months used from another subie owner for $160) and I must say, HOLY COW! No four cylinder should sound like that!
The first few days were an adjustment, to say the least, but afterwards, what a sound! Even the wife likes it. There's no way I'd go back to the OEM option, this just sounds too good. Of course, you'll get good at modulating the volume with the throttle, but I've got to say, it's kinda fun! Cop around? Shift quick and go easy on the gas. Ricer around? Just blip the throttle, haha!

In all seriousness, this is a wonderful mod for the money. Thanks NP!

Wow... wanting to buy the sedan axelback with the new quad double wall staggered 3.5"... but 150 bucks extra for that? Really? Fail to see how an option that should have been what they started with to begin with can add that much...

Exhaust tips are very expensive especially quad tips. Might be only a small amount of companies that carry that tip?

Pretty sure they build the 3.5" double-wall tips in house, and they take a lot of time, hence the increased cost.

Might be. I had the first single wall 3.5" tips staggered and full powdercoated black. Jason told me then that he had to wait to receive them. That was awhile ago so maybe they do them in house now. I no longer have my axelback so I don't keep up on their products.
