Dealers suck. You really have to learn it your self. Carbs are not that hard... They just take time and patients.

I know a guy that can prob fix it. He lives in the Watauga area off of Denton Hwy. He is cheap in hour rates and does a really good job. Personal friend of mine if you are interested pm and I will give you his number and you can ask him about it.

ExchangeGuy lives in Dickinson, which is almost as far away as you can get from Ft. Werf... well, not really, but it's a long ways away. Whatever the savings might be, the gas-bill would eat it up

That is bad-ass!!
Yea ftw is a ways from my home to fix a carb. I do have trailer to tow it though....That is, if it is the carb. OK problem....
here goes:
mornings and smetimes after work, after warmup. The bike seems to starve for fuel during hard and medium stops (lights and stop signs), the front cylinder pops out of the pipes. The engine runs on 1 cylinder. #2.
sometime on acceleration, it acts like it does when runs out of fuel. Then, getting out the freeway sometime gets scary...I nail the throttle. The bike bike sometimes doesnt seem to want to go over 65mph....bogs. Or acts like it want to die but doesnt. It has died in traffic before. Just once or twice. Not often, just like the symtoms I have described. Yamaha has not been able to dulicate the issue. I took in 5 times after it has acted up on me, and won't do it again. I have tried different fuels, different stations.
Yamaha tells me it could be the fuel....well duh! but not the fuel itself!!
It's that damn carb!! They have yet had a excuse to go into it. Over the course of the last year since I had it, I have taken it in numerous times to fix it....no luck. they can't find the problem. ugh!! I had the same problem with my V-star several years ago....when they rejetted some parts fell out. so they replaced one of the carbs. I think it's the same problem with this one. They dont belive me! The float is either bad, a stuck jet, etc.
i would rather replace with a 42-45mm carb (stock is 40mm). It's still stock now, with a 1700cc (102ci) v-twin engine.
I even had a long talk with the GM and the owner to try get something moving on it. The Gm told me it was a normal characteristic of the bike...uh WHAT!!??. No it's not!! UGH......

They are more American than Harley is, they also run great! No shaking, lots of power, the actually do a great job at keeping up with the sport bikes. If you have not ridden one try them.

Ah, no worries. I know a dude named Keith out there that has 2 or 3 nc30's and at least one nc35.. amongst several other odd-ball JDM-only type of bikes (400rrs, gixxer400's, rgv's, stuff like that). He's a collector, he knows someone in the DFW area that is as well, and I think he sold the guy an nc30. But, looking at your 'before' pic, that would not have come from him... he's much nicer to his bikes.

You must've gotten that one off one of the importers from ebay?.. or did you go directly to them? There used to be a bunch of 'em, but I've been out of that scene for a while. I've pondered trying that, but fear getting ripped off.

I -really- want an nc30 (or 35!) like crazy. I feel I need at least one 'import' that has more than 2-strokes (to go along with my tzr250 and rg500).

Is there a club or club website that I could go to to find bikes like this for sale? Thank you. Up to now, I have just tried my luck on craigslist.

Yeah i got it from a guy in california. I traded an old beat up aprilia RS250 cup bike for it. I saw it posted on ebay, he had a few other grey bikes too.

if you want a 400 grey bike the nc30 is by far one of the best choices. the little gear cam motor is very robust and needs alot less attention than other little high revving 400s. There's a huge following in the UK and you can always find the part you need. companies like tyga are making new parts for them as well.

heck yeah! I'm thinking about building a lil cafe racer myself and selling the sv off. It's a fun bike, but I mostly cruise around the neighborhood anyway, so I don't need a lot of power. Let's go bum around sometime when the weather stops sucking. I'm trying to stay out of the heat with the helmet on. It makes my face break out/heatrash up hardcore (you should have seen my after my 8 hour ride back from Dallas through backroads!)
I have to interview soon and I don't want to look like I just got in a knife fight

Was the 'priller titled and so on?.. or just one of the 'race' bikes? Stink-wheels not your thing? .. yeah, I know, they are messy and you gotta wring the crap outta them to get anywhere, but man.. you feel like a GP hero on 'em even if you're slow and wobbly like me!

I'm pretty familiar with Tyga and so on, they've been around for a while... mostly do Honda stuff from what I recall.. I love their NSR250 Repsol kit.

I love me some 2-stroke smokers! The NSR-250R is what really got me started on this bike mania. I came close to buying a couple but it never did pan out. Im all about old moto GP and watchin schwantz vs rainey battles etc. good stuff.

The priller wasnt titled or anything. it was a 250 cup challenge bike & it was a beast!
