Headlight Bake & Paint...Accents?
Alright so I was thinking, now that I got my red Hella Supertones, I may (while the bumper is off) Bake my headlights and paint them / remove the reflectors.
I was thinking of doing a red accent around the projector (the little circular part) Has anyone done it in a 09 recently? I have seen it on a 07, I just am curious if it's gonna look like ****. The idea was remove the bumper, take off the top part of my grille, (silver piece cause I hate it) remove my WRX badge, install the red Hellas, bake the headlights, paint them black and the circular part around the projector sphere red, and do the DIY overlays on my lights (the red ones in the rear) Something like this: So... But not that red I dont think...Maybe ill just paint the interior, just looking for opinions Thoughts? and can someone give me some info on painting the projector ring especially? I'm not sure if I wanna paint the whole thing or just the rounded part

I like it. I was considering this myself when I did my retrofit. Maybe you can submit a request in the photoshop thread.

I can't tell much of a difference between the baked and painted and stock actually...except if the projector ring is painted
Is it just painting the reflector? Last edited by zwalk; 10-08-2012 at 07:58 PM. |

A nice darker red would look cool. Over here anything red or blue on the front of a car in any light assembly is illegal. I would think a darker hue would let you slide unless a cop is right up to it looking at it. Guys tried the red halo in other vehicles and were ticketed up the a$$. Then again... Its not giving off a red light. I guess you'd be fine. Brighter is better lol.

I like the idea...if your car is red. I think color-matching that ring to your car us where it's at. Otherwise, it may look a little rice.

A red trim along the bottom or top. It's subtle, but will pop with those Hellas.
Or darken the Hellas and put a red trim in those?sounds like your looking to do something different from everyone. |

Nothing too crazy just looking to make the car a little more aesthetically appealing so it feels more complete

Send them to me. I'll do them for you. I've cleared/painted dozens of Subaru headlights.
