I already wrote how I made the instrument cluster bezel. I used the original bezel, cut it, bondo-ed it, fiberglassed it, and bondo-ed it again. Then paint, sand, paint, sand, paint. If you need more pics just give me holler. The ones I took of the finished piece were pretty shatty, so they don't really do it justice.

AndyWRXWG,

About Autometer, that's why I took it apon myself to make the instrument cluster bezel. It holds two 52mm gauges(60mm would be way to big and would block the factory gauges).

Making the pods took a whole lot of "Oh well, here it goes". Use a dremel to cut the factory bezel just enough to hold the aftermarket gauges in place. Then I used masking tape to hold the gauges where I wanted them so I could I could bondo up the outer sides of the bezel. ouce the outer sides were done then I used fiberglass to form the inner cups(so I no longer needed tape to hol the gauges in place). After that, I continued using bondo to round off the edges and get that nice smooth finish You expect to see in any custom work.

I know reading this isn't going to make a whole lotta sense. I wish I had more pictures of the work in progress but I didn't get a digital camera until the last couple of stages. If you live around the Portsmouth,NH area you can come and visit me at Circuit City and I can explain it in greater detail.

I'll stop ramblin' on now...

yep, that is the Lo-Tek pod...

about the angle thing, the 2 bottom ones dont face left at all... they are really centered, the top one has a little angle, but barelly noticeable ...

my only problem about that pod (I am REALLY picky) is that the weatherstriping does not cover it entirely at the top (where the pod meets the roof) and it gets anoying sometimes ... its just 1/8th of an inch or so, but it was enough to make me real pissed when i first got it, maybe its just the fact that i didnt drill the holes close enough to the roof, or whatever... ill try to fix it later this month...

but besides that, the paint is really closest match you will ever get, it serves its purpose ! for ~50$, you cant go wrong

Default Gauge in the Air Vent

I really like the look and idea of the gauge being in the air vent. One of you posted it and im too lazy to go back since my comp is slow right now. Would you have to cut off air to that vent since cold/hot air would still flow through there otherwise? How? Another cool thing I would like to have (not ever gonna happen) is a LCD pop out screen that can show where the cops are at with the Valentine radar. Kinda like jets have. I hate how cops pull an instant on me and gives me a freakin heart attack. I wonder how i could to that...

Here's an old pic of my gauge set-up. I now havea knock link mounted on the switch knockouts to the right, right above the windshield wiper lever. I also have my AVC-R and Power FC mounted in the center panel and dash, each displaying gauges/info. I'm going to put 3 more gauges (oil press, oil temp, and fuel press) in the single din above my stereo, to top it all off!

Edit: BTW, the gauges, are, from left to right: Autometer EGT, Blitz DTT (boost gauge), Valentine 1 remote display, Autometer A/F.

I am now a Defi Maniac. I have 6 BF gauges installed. There are 3 in the Defi pod, 3 in a LoTek A-pillar. The V2 Control Unit is in the glove box. I'm not sure what to do with the second V2 CU (got with second set). I mounted the warning light on the door by the mirror. It has a curved base, so it's hard to find a good place if you don't mount it on the plastic cups.

The only thing I don't have done is installing a few sensors. Fuel, Water, EGT need to be hooked up. I crammed all the wires through the huge grommet behind the cruise control.

My Apex'i boost gauge is still hooked up, but I might change it to measure pressure somewhere else. I might try to measure pressure directly off of the turbo, that way I'll have pre and post intercooler pressures.

Defi's are beautiful. The quality is top notch.

for the autometer guys, What color are the Z series gauges at night time.
Im looking for gauges that blen in with the stock looks. So it would be a black face , white letters and green lighting.

Any other sudgestions on brands? Dont want to spend 150$ on a single gauge too. Planning on doing an autometer full pillar with 2 gauges, boost and .... maybe trany temp, maybe fuel/air ratio

greddy and omori gauges match up well with the stock colors. I think the only difference in the Greddy ones besides the numbers is also the color of the needles.

I put my control unit in my center console. That way it's out of the way and it's hidden.

I don't think it exists. I just went with a single pod in the left corner of the dash next to the A-pillar. If you find one...let me know!

That's a great place for it, but I still like having it in the glovebox, my preference. How hard is it to press the buttons with it back there?
