got an sti ecu update and the car keeps getting slower
I originally brought my 07 sti in for an oil change for the first time and got the car back and it felt slower. I thought it was my imagination at first. Then later on i was getting some service done and told the dealer i was having an issue that under 3/4 acceleration i was getting boost surges on and off. They told me there was a software update that they can perform to fix that. When i got the car back it felt punchy and i realized that the car was slower after the first visit to the dealer and now seemed to be as good as when i first got it. Then it quickly tapered off and now is slower than ever with almost no pull on the freeway. I used to get a surge of boost now it just feels like a nothing. I think they might have done an update that first time but i dont know. The recent ecu update was about 3 months ago. I brought it back a few days ago and they said they couldnt find anything wrong plus there is no way to remove an update. Will resetting the ecu (with the neg wire removed then stepping on the brake) work to set it back to factory spec or do the updates stay. Also, i have an aem cai, if the filter is dirty will that cause that much resriction? I thought this could be an issue, but with the instant changes that the ecu update caused made me think programming was the problem. Thanks alot for any help.

Im pretty sure most CAI are bad news on wrx and sti without a aftermarket pro tune. Your motor could be cutting timing or boost because you ran it to lean. Maybe remove CAI and get a leakdown test?

1-Either dump the CAI & go back to stock intake or get a tune for the CAI.
2-When the dealer did the reflash, it clears ECU learning, this may allow full boost until the ECU gets pissed off and kills boost. 3-Clearing the ECU (like by disconnecting the battery) will NOT clear any programming, it will only clear ECU learning. |

Was the CAI put on after the dealer reflash? with that new of a car, you need a tune for ANY modification.
