I like the interior and new rear. The front seems a little in-congruent with the rear though. It needed a little more streamlining I think.

I'm not sure about the rear. Seems too large...

Looks like an Aston a bit from the back -- those taillights give it away . . .

I like it a lot, especially thinking from a DD/Grand Touring perspective - I do have a feeling though - that the 991 GT2/3's while better on paper, won't be as pointy/focused as the 997's.

Yeah that is a big pooper. Must be for the 2016 hybrid mention. Tails look Audish. They put separate turn signals in front of the wheels, I like the inside wheel well design. Keeps the fender clean.

I have no idea why this steering wheel isn't STOCK with every PDK porsche sold. They tried the forward and aft thumb buttons... and paddles work better. Has anyone ever really preferred that their engine start and stop all the time? What does that do for mechanical and electrical wear? What about coolant flow? I'll let my engine run, thanks. |

The 911 is slowly turning into a traditionally styled coupe, don't like it.
It kinda looks like all the extra length is between the doors and rear wheels, which doesn't help any remaining "traditional 911-ness." Does it now have usable rear seats? What did they do with the extra length? |

Starting to turn my head a little bit more every time I see one. I'm loving the new interior styling.

Bloated. Bigger and bigger.
A mid 70's 911 is going to look compact next to this thing. Although the performance is most likely mind-boggling. |

I'm still gunning for a used 997 Carrera S in a few years. Hopefully the 991 will drive prices down on the 997.2 and I can get an 09. |

I can tell they used the same side glass and not much with the top of the roof skin changed.
When viewed in profile, the more massive lower body, due to it's increased length and possibly higher window sill, makes the same upper body look disproportionately small. The 996/997 is the original proportion for that window graphic and roof arch. The 991 rear glass is raked back at a shallower angle, making the C-pillar thicker, and keeping the arch continuous to the tail, but the side quarter glass looks so similar that it could be the same part number. The upper half of the car looks smaller, because the bottom half of the car actually IS bigger. Last edited by HipToBeSquare; 04-07-2012 at 01:01 AM. |
