Angry Current state of TXIC...

Well, here we have it. We're the first Regional Forum to be up for extinction thanks to a buncha people that insist on pushing everything WAY too far.

I'm pretty pissed about it all, but I'd like to do something about it.

I honestly believe that one of our biggest problems is that we don't have ONE local moderator and very few of you actually respect the mods we do have. I'm not pointing the finger at just TXIC members though. The mods also have a lot to do with it since they simply react and give no reason. Not knowing any of us makes it more difficult ans then the battles start.

My solution is we need a LOCAL moderator, or at least one that's familiar with most of the TXICers.

I absolutely agree with this.... both of them would be more consistant than what we have had in the past, but from what I understand, HW might not have time todo something like that....

and yes, I think TXICs problem is a lack of respect for its moderators... the mods from before didn't have the need time to really do the job, but we need someone who actually knows the TXIC crew instead of just their SNs...

i really think that having a moderator that lives in the state of Texas would allieviate a lot of the problems. As the members of the TXIC Forum have almost no social interaction with the moderators they only see their reactionary behaviour to posts. Its so easy to misread something or not catch the humour of a sarcastic joke when you've never met the people involved.. it would probably be easier for the moderators had they come to the state meet for example, but as they dont live in texas it was pretty unlikely.

this issue came up even when kevin was removed as mod.....or stepped down or whatever....i truly believe this would alleviate a lot of these problems.....its a lot of things would be solved if we reverted back to that, but then it could also cause some problems....i think a lot of problems that arose with kev, and the lack of respect was that people KNEW him.....ie...an example, not picking on anyone, but i remember when another member got into with kev, some of the issues were also personal, and this member basically threw some stuff in his face....so it can work in two ways.....

The mods need to be professional in their conduct in the forum they moderate. You cannot hold personal grudges against people... well you can, but if you act on those then you ar enot worth a monkey spank as a moderator.... I don't know exactly how everything went down last time (actually, Idon't remember), but this is just stupid....

I hope TXIC is still around for you guys. My contribution to the current problem was not intended, but a good point was made so the punishment was taken to the extreme again.

I would do it... but honestly my concept of moderation is so much more mechanical that what happens here. I would clamp down on the nonsense and I fear everyone would just complain and resent me (not that they don't already). I had emailed them before about setting up a local moderator and they were like "who?". So orion and I are on the same wavelength there. Well from my criticism that was not taken well in the other posts I can almost promise that I wouldn't be alowed to moderate. Hell technically moderation and administration is my job... I guess thats why I care so much.

I second the nominations for orion or myself? anybody else have have their heads screwed on straight that dosen't take all of this personaly?

As a non Texas native, it is my opinion that Texans just plain don't respect authority.

What happened to my liberal, left minded laws like:

+Illegal to talk on cell phones while driving
+Illegal to smoke in pretty much all public places
+Illegal to make most U-turns
+Illegal to make a right on red in the city
+Illegal to drive a motorcycle without a helmet
etc.

My friend from New Jersey coined the term "Texas U-Turn" because we were aghast at the freedom at which people U-Turn around here. It's simply unheard of!

Don't get me started with your gun and concealed gun laws...

Yay for Texas!!!

Here's the funny thing... we didnt do anything, a few TXIC people said some stuff in OT... now TXIC itself is suffering from the ramifaications of it...

How damn stupid is that?

If I have to choose Phil (HellWagon) or Orion... my vote goes to Phil. Soon, the whole idea of a "local" moderator goes out the window, Orion will soon be living in Ohio.

To be honest, I think that three moderators is fine.
1) Needs to have admin power... Fishguy
2) Needs to be on the board often and have good rappore.... HellWagon
3) Needs to know everyone and have every resource available to bring this chapter together in meets, track events, etc etc. ... Bankheist

My suggestions mean nothing if we dont have a chapter of the I-club to moderate

thanks dave, but i think many of my comments recently may have changed my status on here, as far as everyones opinions of me go.....plus i wasnt at the last statemeet, for financial reasons, but nevertheless, some may use that to form opinions about me or something...but it doesnt matter.

now for the moderators, i always said the three "district" should have a moderator for each, ie a dfw, htown and atx mod.....that way it is hard to partial to certain members, as far as playing favorites, or holding grudges. this may help resolve conflicts before they start...as in, as an example, ONLY AN EXAMPLE....a dfw mod treats dfw guys with more leinancy <sp?>..the other two mods can be impartial.....

as i have noticed TXIC is still kinda split, and is important that if we do not fix this "rift" at least address it, by having mods from "both sides"....

as for the mods.....i know orion would be a hardass, but that is his personality, and i think that is what we need, as for phil, i am still undecided as to how i feel about him being a mod....i know he is a good guy inperson, but does that make a good mod?....and as for banky, as he has told me before its not easy being a mod, but we've been through this before......we all know he can plan and "supervise" events, but then again so others, as this last statemeet seemed to have proved...not doggin ya kev, just stating my opinion, and the two cents its worth...

This is very true. We all are a little bit sideways after the shootout today in OT. Allot of heated things were said, and that has passed.

Some sort of reorganization is necessary, and we have to be careful that our comments now don't totally negate our say in this reorganization.

Everybody always takes my comments in the worst possible way. Maybe I should change my name to HappyFuzzyBunnyWagon?

Make Orion a mod "pro-tem" (until he gets re-assimilated as a yankee).

That should buy some time.

I forgot about this arguement. Yes, I would agree... by combining the restof the nation's small understanding of the way Texas works (just razzing you guys out there), there is a nice size rift between all of the regions, or "districts," or Texas. And instead of trying to pull everything together, addressing the issue through better selection of moderators would be wise.

I am sure that if you locked all of the TXIC guys in a big room in real life (kind of like we are here in i-world), we would probably kill each other.

hmmmm so if texas is such a large region and we have "rifts" because our cities are so diverse and separated, it makes NO sense to take away TXIC.

If you ask me, lets not focus on new moderation... lets save this forum!

I would have to second those choices... Each person has their strong points and we know all of them personally. (most of us at least) The only possible problem I see is people making Fishguy out to be the "bad guy" since he has the admin power, maybe that should be evened out a bit. I don't see why that is not possible... If anyone has any other nominees for local mods, lets hear them..

I'm just happy to see everyone putting their collective $.02 in!

Even if I don't get to be a moderator and someone else locally does, my goal will have been accomplished.
