Default Anyone know how to recover date from a CD-RW?

I thought iwas doing something good by moving my files to a cd-rw, but everytime i try to move the files back to the PC it fails!!!

saying the file is read-only and cannot copy is there any fixing to this or can i kiss those mp3's and mpg's goodbye?

Maybe you don't have the rights on the PC you are using? Dunno...I've never had that issue. FWIW... cd-rW is the debbil's work. cd-r ONLY for me.

It tells me the disk is either corrupted or using a format not known to windows.

You can't MOVE files from the CD...you can only copy them. It looked like you tried this already, but worth mentioning. When you perform a move, it attempts to remove the file from the source at the end of the operation. Since you can't remove from the CD, it fails.

If it still fails after a copy, try the disc into a different CD-ROM device and see how it works.

If its saying read only, you have to format the disk. Same thing happened to me a week ago

Double click an MP3 file while its on the CDRW. If your system has an MP3 player accociated with MP3's, it might play. If it does, you have a permissions or attributes issue, or maybe you are out of disk space. If it opens winamp or media player or similar, but doesn't play, you have a CDRW issue.

You can usually get at least some data back from a foobar CD by opening your burning application and using a command like "save track as *.ISO". Might also be called "save disc image".

Just to make sure it's completely clear.

You cannot just drag the files, that will attempt to move them, which you cannot do.

And there is a difference between cut and copy. Cut will not work.

You can attempt to save an image of the CDRW to your hard drive as an ".ISO" type file, then use a program called ISOBUSTER, or similar, to recover the files from the .ISO image file.

If you can't save the image file to the hard drive, then you probably are, in fact, SOL.
