Cool The rarest Subaru in North America

It has to be the SUS. Legacy Outback Sedan. I hardly see them at all! Agreed?

Nope. I diagree.

Here in New England, I see quite a few of them. More than RS's, that's fer sure.

New England Was supposedly the test market for them to see how they sold, and they did, then went nationwide.

I'm kind of puzzled why anyone would buy the SUS (now it's just the "Outback sedan" I think). I can understand the pseudo-SUV look on the wagon Outback, it looks pretty good IMO. But what is the sense of having a sedan that looks like a SUV? Are the people who buy these things aware that a Legacy sedan with all the options would probably cost much less? And probably perform better with less weight from the Outback style body panels and such. I guess taste really is relative

UPDATE: Just remembered this Edmund's article...enjoy http://www.edmunds.com/edweb/editori...ust/subaru.htm

It depends on what year you're talking. It's certainly not the SUS. I see at least 5 of those every day. I probably see 1 RS per month. The SVX is an extremely rare car. I've never seen one on the road. The only one I've seen in person was a used one the dealer had for sale when I bought my RS. I've never seen a BRAT on the road either. I guess talking about anything before that is not really applicable.

I can't believe you'd mention the GL as a rare car. My god, there must be at least 4 of them just on my block here. Those things are EVERYWHERE! I see more of those than all Imprezas.

The most rare Subaru has to be the 360. However there are at least 5 of these in the Denver area.

There are plenty of Brats here still running fine.

No your all wrong. Its that Subaru drag car that was at Atco raceway last August. For those that were there they should remember it. Now that kind of cars rare. We may take our cars to the drag races but I don't think any of us have built an all out drag car out of our Subaru.

Rarest car? How about the 1994 Legacy Outdoor? Precursor to the Outback and extremely limited production.

hehe, how about the RS? lol. I dunno, the GL? no, I had one, the GL-10, ehh, close. The Brat? Yea, that's up there, only seen one in my life, SUS no, hmmm. I think I have seen 1 Legacy Outdoor, I dunno. I've seen a few SVXs. So I guess rare goes to the Outdoor at 1, the Brat at 1, and the RS at 5 (driving, not including meets).

If I am not mistaken...
I think Subaru of NE operates independantly of SOA... NE was a test market for the SUS...

that's what I've been told.. because there are quite a few around here...

Personally.. not my thing.. why you'd get one I don't know.. about as off-roadable as a legacy GT but does not look as nice....
just my thoughts...

I think the rarest Subaru in the NA market would be the brat, followed by the Turbo Legacy, followed by the SVX, with the GL nipping closely at it's heels.

Quick Comment...

It was mentioned already a few posts ago... BUT I heard the same rumor, although I view Motor Trend TV a reliable source...

The large number of Legacy Outback Sedans in the New England area is due to one really simple fact... That is where Subaru decided to test them... they were available there LONG before they were openly available...

I see a lot of SUS/Outback Sedans down here in WV. Some body I work with just bought one. She wanted a GT but got the OBSedan for about 1500 cheaper. I guess thing that are options on the GT are standard Outback trim. Plus with the flooding we have been having lately she wont mind having the extra inch or so ground clearence. Rarest Subaru SOA 22b ownly 1!

The Brat and turbo Legacy are pretty rare. But I see SUS's, SVX's and GL's all the time.

I guess I'm pretty lucky if you guys consider the Brat and Turbo Legacy rare, since I have an 85 Brat and my brother has an 94 Turbo Legacy Wagon. Between us we have 6 Subies, you got to love them. I think the 360 is pretty rare, only seen one here. The SUS is around a lot since it was test marketed here in 97(I think late 97 as a 98 model?), but only came with leather and in an automatic. It sold so well SOA made it available to everyone the folowing year. SONE, is considered a distributor for SOA and acts like a seperate company. That's why they seem to get a better allocation of RS's here than other areas. But, for rarest Subie I would pick the 84 Turbo Brat! Never seen one and it was the only year they offered it.

I don't know if mine is rare or not...

1995 Subaru Impreza Wagon L
Impreza Outback sport paint scheme (2-tone)
AWD
1.8L
No sway bar or sway bar links for installation
Roof Rack
No vents or scoop.

I haven't seen many early Ls with AWD and NO swaybar. Pissed me off when I found out I was missing the bar and that I was only driving a 1.8L engine, but that'll all change soon enough.

Other than that, the Brats would be the rarest Sube. More SVXs than RSs out here. I don't see SUSs or Outback Sedans in my area, but a lot of them in Lawrence.

I live in COlumbus Ohio, and around here it's... well... Station Wagons. They are most common.

Second place is of course the Forrester, which I just consider a wagon... because, well, it is.

The RS and SVX seemt to be equally rare
Or at least were.

After I bought my RS, I saw about one more per month, now I see them around alittle too much...

Guess people just saw my car and though "I HAVE TO HAVE IT"

Not surprised.

Ironically, Loyales and XTs are very very rare. And I've never seen a Justy in my life.
