Exclamation Hampton Roads Perry Meet, Version 2.0, October 19th

Sunday October 19th is the date. Time will be Noon to 2pm. Rain or shine, indoors or outdoors, this event will take place!

Directions to the Perry Subaru Meet, Version 2.0....click me!

From Dave:
north side people!!! we will meet at the usual spot before heading down to the southside....that being the Hooters parking lot on mercury blvd across from coliseum mall

meet there say 10:30am...chill and wait for straglers (rob) and leave no later than 11am getting to the destination a little before noon. if you get stuck at one of the 3 lights on the way out we will drive slow on the highway so you can catch up to the pack of 2-3 cars that usually meet....

Ralph (or local SOA rep) is coming unless his schedule changes on him. He said he might not have his new Turbo Forester in time for the event though, so he might roll up in his Kia Sephia!

Greg said that the Perry dealership, as if they weren't before, are 1000% behind us and this event. So they are picking up the tab for food and drink for the event!

The after-Meet party will be held at Virginia Beach Motor World. Racing should be $4-6 per session. Stay and race or just spectate as long as you can stay.

Greg's (our favorite salesman) special surpise will be posponed until the week after the 19th. Once I hear if it goes through or not, I will post to let everyone know the details.

As usual, please post your info if you can make it! If you have never been to one of "our" meets before, this is an excellent opportunity to come! Our last Perry Meet had about 20 Subarus in attendance.

FYI...to get the Group rate, we'd need 20 or mo' peeps. The going rate is $20+tax for 2-hour unlimited track usage.

If we don't have 20 or mo', then it'll be between $4-6+tax per person per run, depending on the track.

I think we can dismiss the group rate route for two big reasons, time and money. 2 hours will be too long for many people and some attendees are poor college students who can barely afford the $6 price tag for one round let alone $20. After the hurricane expenses, Richmond trip, and birthday party bill, I don't think I can afford the $20 either. So let's just say we will head to the track ala carte and pay for what we can. If anyone has fault with my logic, I am all ears.

Hey all,

I spent the good part of this week without power. We were one of the last areas to get fixed... Sorry I missed some of the meets. I should be able to make it on the 19, complete with my new toys installed. Here is just a partial picture of what will be going in:

I also spent some time today running a claybar over my car.. I think it was time well spent. Heres a few pics:

Hope to see everyone on the 19TH,

Derek

Derek,

The car is looking great, but one thing distresses me about your parts pic. I see a catalytic convertor in the picture. Are you getting all tree hugger on me or what? With your new turbo, do you have to get bigger fuel injectors, fuel pump, and all that UTEC stuff or is it only slightly bigger than the stocker?

And I don't see any door dings.....cool people have door dings!

tree hugger.. hehe thats funny :P

I plan on having the race pipe as well to switch out when the time is right, but I want the high flo cat on there for now since I have a state inspection coming up in about a month. Also, the door dings where there, I had them removed . Dent Doctor is awesome! I also highly recommend meguiars scratchX compound, that stuff does wonders. The turbo Im installing is a VF30, which is large enough that you should install injectors and fuel pump. Im going to be setting the boost to a lower level until i order the fuel system stuff, I have been told its completely safe. Stock incectors/pump hold up fine to about 240-250 whp. Then when I get the injectors/pump I will take a trip to turboxs and have it all tuned.

My trunk monkey will eat and drink just about anything. You do have to watch out for Dave's monkey though. Like Dave, he has the gheyness, so you might catch him humping your trunk monkey!

Default STOP!

You must immediately stop the PBR!... Only high end Stouts,Porters and Lagers are allowed to be used. Never use Ale. Preferably from the UK if you are going with any PRODRIVE equipment.

Damn newbies, Never read their owners manual

Dave and I do share a penchant for Harp, a fine Guiness product, so I hope that's cool with you, a fellow Prodrive product owner. Dave, sadly, has yet to reach the vaulted level of Prodrive. He is still on OEM products. If he would stop wrecking his car or getting moving violations from teh local law enforcement, he might be able to afford their $$$ products.

well if you want to get technical, all of those brews you just named ARE ales, except of course for the lager, which is the only thing that isn't an ale.

PBR IS a lager.

lager = bottom fermenting yeast, kept at lower tempatures, IIRC around 30 F

ale = top fermenting yeast, kept at around 58-65

There is such a thing as heavy dark lager, like a dopplebock, which is what I think you were trying to get at. Most dark, tastey beers are ales though...

sorry, I couldn't resist
