Default Electronics supply stores? I need a resistor.

Hey, does anyone know of a good electronics supply store is in the DC area. I need a 3 or 3.3 ohm resistor to get rid of the airbag light for my Ver 3 steering wheel. Radio Shack doesn't have them. Thanks

Default some sites Ive used

http://www.newark.com/
http://www.alliedelec.com/
http://www.digikey.com/

and http://www.radioshack.com/category.a...4%5F000&Page=1

You could use 3 x 10 ohms in parallel = 3.33 ohm. Thats your best bet for simplicities sake as I'm guessing your local radio shack would have that in stock.

What do you need a 3.3 ohm resistor for? Just curious.

I thought the actual resistance of the airbag was 3.3 ohm. 3 ohm resistors were just more common and close enough that they work. So I was just saying I wanted to find either a 3 ohm or 3.3 ohm resistor. I may be wrong.

Doesn't 3 10 ohm's in series = 30 ohms?

Connect them like that, twist or solder or whatever the ends. That is parallel.

Yes in series it would be 30 ohms

I bought some for my seat swap to shut up the airbag light, but won't be back til Sunday. I have a ton of extras since the smallest amount you can buy is like 50. So if everything else falls through let me know.

Thanks guys. I may just try the 10 ohms in parallel since I can get them tonight. I've got a trashed airbag connector that I can cut up and solder the resistors in.

next question: how are you going to wire up the resistors to the harness? Are you just going to cram it into the harness? btw, which two wires or single wire that you tap the resistors to?

Well with my 1999 L, I've got a trashed airbag harness(the part that goes through into the steering wheel). I've cut the airbag connector off and will just splice the resistor between the two wires. There is a yellow/blue and yellow/black wire. I've heard you can just push the resistors right into the airbag connector.

I tried the 3 10ohm resistors in parallel and it's working.

Is the airbag light supposed to stay on for a few seconds after you start the car and then go out? I've been driving with the airbag light for so long that I have forgotten how it worked stock. Eh, I guess it doesn't really matter either way.

same for me. light came back on twice, but nothing that a little jiggle didn't fix. the ends might have gotten pushed together before i had the tape on.

glad you got it fixed.

anyone else out there need a 3.3 ohm just let me know.
