How can you have dual exhaust without two banks of cylinders? You can have dual outlet, via srt-4, but not dual exhaust.

A boxer engine has 2 banks of cylinders.

If there was room to run a twin turbo set up then true dual exhaust would work.

2 mufflers is NOT dual exhaust.

As a matter of fact, many cars off the lot that have 2 mufflers don't have TRUE DUAL exhaust.

Dual exhaust is 2 headers (or manifolds) with separate pipes and mufflers going all the way front to back.

Most cars with V-8's now days have 2 manifolds that connect with a crossover pipe, then a single pipe down the middle of the car into 1 big muffler with 2 exits, or 2 small mufflers.

A true duel would be quite the funny sounding subaru. Two two cylinder exhausts basically. A better idea would be to run the large single pipe along the underside and split after the axle to two pipes (look under a S2000). Then branch out into smaller pipes and cans on either side. At least it will not sound like a motorcycles two cylinder. The first vipers had true duel exhausts which were two banks of 5 cylinders. They sounded hidious at best.

What are the major things in the way of doing that? The steering linkage for one. Not to mention the piping you'd have to do, all custom. I suppose it could be done, with enough money... Imagine the throttle response you could get with two small turbos

Have one for the turbine and one for the wastegate. If it's anything but that setup, twin exhausts on a single turbo are awful. And by awful, I mean rice.

Wouldn't a twin scroll setup be better? I would think that using only 2 cylinders to spool even a small turbo would not work too well. Maybe spool up would be quick, but you'd probably have NO top end, may not even any middle range power. I think the turbos would have to be so small inorder for 2 small cylinders to spool it that you'd have much less power than the stock WRX setup.

Even my ol' 93 RX-7 twin turbo had a single exhaust all the way from the turbo back. My previous '88 RX-7 (naturally aspirated) had single exhaust all the way till about the rear axle, then split to 2 mufflers. Dual exhaust would be an EXPENSIVE operation.

I pinged the forum about a month ago to see if there would be an interest in a dual outet(two exhaust canisters Y'ing at the catback). Rather than developm one we found that Hayward & Scott arleady has one that we could import. The feedback was not much interest in it.
