Threaten to put Syrup in their Turbo's. That'll shake 'em, eh? Then they'll realize you're not their friend, guy. And that they're not your guy, buddy.

( Sorry, I just watched the "Canada on Strike" episode of South Park >_> )

When picking up my Harley in Niagara Falls the dealer told me they arent allowed to sell to Canadians anymore as well. I believe he said it had something to do with the Canadian Harley dealers complaining to the US Harley Corporate.
I am US Military stationed in Canada so it didnt apply to me, I was still registering it in the states.

Damn it. SOC is ripping us off, and SOA made an issue out of a statistically insigificant amount of transactions. I don't even think it's a warranty issue, as the rules were clearly stated that Canadian buyers of US vehicles would pay for the repairs done in Canada, and then submit the bills to SOA. Not to mention that the price difference exceeds by far any amount of usual warranty repairs.

It's curious though that a purchase of goods can be legally blocked based on the geographical location of the customer's primary residence

What about these dudes?

Businesses have the right to refuse to deal with anyone for any reason as long as its not because of race, swx, sexual orientation, religion and a couple other things.

Canadianism is a race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, and several other things besides.

... although that isn't necessarily correlated with place of residence.

Please let me know if you know a dealership who would sell a new wrx to me. Thanks
I work for a Harley dealer in Seattle and know that we are unable to sell new bikes to Canadian buyers because of trade agreements. If a dealer is caught violating this policy even one time they risk losing their franchise from Harley and will be shut down permanently. It's the same for most car dealers as well. Some dealers have tried getting passed this policy by selling a new vehicle to an employee and said employee will "trade in" that car immediately thereby becoming a used vehicle with no miles. A dealer who had been in business for over 30 years was caught doing this and lost its franchise closing its doors forever. From a dealer standpoint the risk is too heavy to sell even one new vehicle to a Canadian buyer. Canadian buyers can purchase any used vehicle but unfortunately nothing new.

I know it is an unfortunate policy from a Canadian buyer standpoint, but hopefully this helps explain why a US dealer is unable to sell you a new car.

Tried the dealerships in Miami and was told the same thing. No worries I'll just buy a used wrx instead of instead of spending thousands more at a steelership.

Thanks for the offer, I believe I will have to pay Florida tax if I use your address. I have family all over US but unfortunately none of them lives in a State where there is no tax.

Simple! Knock up your wife. Drive across the border and have baby in the U.S., preferably in Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon (no sales tax on vehicles).....Oh wait that only works for free healthcare and food stamps.... Carry On

We have had Air Force personel at this base for over 65 years. Its part of the NORAD network, keeping an eye on North American air traffic.

Ah yes, blame SOA when it was SCI (Subaru Canada Incorporated, not SOC) that threw a hissy fit when SOA was taking their sales. Do you really think that SOA does not want the sales? Think about it....... BTW this is nothing new, IIRC it goes back to 08 (give or take)

I did not know that. So the Canadians know we're there and are cool with it, I guess.

(not a serious question)

If SCI is responsible for this than I'd blame them.
