Default Having Tilton Clutch Issues........Please help

I just got a Tilton twin disk installed on my 05 Sti. I've got alot of weird sounds coming from the clutch. Sounds like a soft BOV when I press the clutch in....almost like one of the disks is still spinning. Also, when either I'm in 1st or Reverse....ever so often I hear aloud pop against the fire wall but, I'm not for sure that's where the sound is coming from cause its hard to track down. At 1st it was bought for my STI but it was filed away to try and fit a WRX but it would not work or fit for some reason so, it was installed on my STI...now I'm having these problems........please help!!!

That pop might be from a missing/loose bolt on the pitch mount. As for the weird noises, they just may be the common characteristics that plague most twin disks.

The discs are splined to the input shaft of the transmission... they spin up and down with the action of the gearset, that's what makes the clattering sound when you have the clutch in... they decelerate and the clutch cover keeps spinning where it's attached to the flywheel.

As for the other noises, the Tilton hydraulic throwout system may have some air in it or something that's making that noise. Try bleeding the system via the bleed tube coming up out of the bellhousing and see if that helps. Just a shot in the dark... it could be anything.

I hope they didn't "file away" anything on the clutch... the only thing that has to be modified is the bell housing. The clutch itself is a balanced rotating assembly, very bad things can happen if it is out of balance. Think 7000rpm and things wobbling... not a pretty picture.

Good luck getting your troubles straightened out!

Could the front or central diff. be broken? How about axles?

that bov sound is normal to the twin plate clutches, i have heard it on the exedy also, i think it sounds cool personally, as far as the pop I am not sure, I would talk to Brad at Titan motorsports, he can probably help you.

How is the clutch slave cylinder mounted... if its not in correctly it can move causing the noise your hearing.
