Question South Coast Subaru, Costa Mesa CA

I was due for an oil change, so yesterday I called South Coast Subaru in Costa Mesa to set up an appointment. I got one this morning. The people there were really nice and I was out fairly quickly.

BUT...

Since I haven't received my plates yet, I still am driving around with the paper ones, and when I got home, I noticed that South Coast had chosen to remove my Irvine Subaru paper plates and replace them with South Coast Subaru ones. Why do dealerships do these sorts of things? They didn't respond to my inquiry a month ago when I chose to get a new car, and Irvine did, so why should they think they should get any sort of credit for the sale of my car? Even if you want to brush that little tidbit aside, what they did was change my car in a manner which I did not agree to.

And, just for the record, I would have gotten the oil change at Irvine, but they aren't open every weekend, and that is the only time I have to take my car in.

If you don't mind driving, (and what Subaru owner does), go to Suby Specialties in Monrovia. Everything is done right, and he treats everyone well.

Yeah, but if you're unhappy because South Coast removed your Irvine license plate frame, Suby Specialties does that too sometimes. But trust me, after going to Suby Specialties and meeting Steve, Don, & Dino, you'll want to be sporting that Suby Specialtes frame. www.subyspecialties.com

-scott-

If you're really that upset, call them up and ask for your Irvine plates back. That's the only way to let them know that you didn't appreciate what they did.

Tell me about it. I had the same experience at South Coast Subaru, and quite frankly it pisses me off. I didn't buy my car there, but because I went there for service, they think they can just F with my car like this...

I mean...Look at the front plate frame! They put a friggin Acura frame on it!! I want to call them all sorts of evil names...But they were pretty nice to me...Sigh...Figures.

Now I have to waste 5-10 minutes of my time to remove them.

I think the solution is to simply look at both plates before you leave. If they messed with them, tell them straight up to put it back the way you brought it in. And make sure they know you're pissed that they wasted your time. :monkey:

Why do you care? I refuse to advertise for any dealership....although I realize it's a pain in the butt to take off an unsolicited frame, once I received my plates, Assael was nowhere to be seen. Same thing with my previous Integra. Screw the dealership.

I put on a "final score, boys 2, girls 1" license plate frame.

Just kidding, since that's a major pet peeve, along with goddamn disneyland license plate frames.

Thumbs up South Coast Subaru

Got my WRX 8-26-02, and have been really happy with them. Every question I have had has been answered, and the service had been good. Will keep going to them for a long time to come.

p.s. Have a lot of family and friends wanting to switch to subaru's as a result of the service i have gotten from them.

Thanks south Coast for all the help.

cool, they tried to rip me off. at first they kept trying to overcharge me, but we had settled on a decent price... then the next day, they tried to go back on their previous offer, until we made them aware that we didnt want to deal with them any longer. THEN, they called back and still gave us a higher price than previously agreed upon. needless to say, I went elsewhere. I went to Irvine Subaru and they were straight up with me and gave me a much better price on an 03 than South Coast gave me on an 02.

I can only say that they are awsome with me, and continue to be. I don't know who it was that you saw there, but I have dealt with Vince and Greg and am very happy with the level of service I am getting.

I've had good experience with both of these dealers. We bought my wife a WRX Wagon from Irvine in January, and I purchased a White WRX Sedan from South Coast in June.

I went there for an oil change...had a free oil change coupon. When I left the place, I noticed they put their plate frames on my car

Other than that, it was a good experience. Whoever I talked to was really nice.

When I asked about 30k mile maintenance, he quoted me 420 and said they are one of the lowest prices around...He even told me to call around. Ok, so I did...and the first place I called had them beat by 70 bucks.

What's up with that?

Thumbs up South Coast Subaru

I had a uppipe and my brakes put on today by South Coast subaru. They were great. I got in and out quickly. Spoke to Ferdie about cars and his CF trunk, Sick. They carry everything now from swaybars to oil catch can from Rotora Brakes to Stoptech. Ferdie is very cool. Talk to him if you need any parts at all. Thanks Ferdie.

one question...are they still putting the "south coast subaru" licence plate frames on all the cars they work on? i brought my car there a couple of times without frames and they pulled my car out with frames on it. minor annoyance.

i only ask because their service seems to have improved greatly since they first opened.

That place seemed okay, but they didn't want to give me a good deal on the car so I took my business elsewhere.

I know it's annoying that they put plate frames on your car like that. But it's not uncommon for other dealers to do that too. Irvine Subaru does it to my friend's RS every time he goes there.
