Default Cadillac to bring BRX and BLS to US

Cadillac is considering to bring European built models to the US

See http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/08/...brx-bls-to-us/

Officially the BRX has not been kicked-off, but according to the suppliers there's no way back. In 2009 Cadillac will come with a compact cross-over which will be positioned below the SRX. As model name they're thinking about BRX.

The BRX will use an adapted platform from the Opel Antara and Chevrolet Captiva. Production will not be in South Korea (as the two above), but in North America. Competitors will be the new Acura RDX and the Mazda CX-7. As these two, the BRX will get a turbo 4-cyl. gas engine, probably the 2.3t/2.3T motor of the Saab 9-5.

The Swedish GM partner will also get its own version of the BRX, which will also be produced in North America.

According Cadillac a new compact cross-over is necessary as the American consumer "doesn't count cylinders anymore". For this reason, Cadillac is also considering to sell the next generation BLS in the US when production starts end 2009. The new BLS will use the Epsilon-II platform, which would make 4WD possible.
