Post Mitsu Evo coming to the US in late 2002!!!!

It looks like the WRX will have some friendly competition!
http://www.maxima.org/forums/showthr...threadid=27014

I think this is GREAT for car enthusiats like us. We are going to get better and better cars for less and less money.

If this car does come here and has most of what they say it will, I will but one ASAP! But I think it would be over $30k for that car...

the evo and automatic should never ever ever be mentioned in the same breath. whap! (slap on the wrists).
this will be interesting... im sure that mitsu will detune it but i would bet money that they will only bring it over if its faster than the wrx. which hopefully will push subaru to bring over the ra. that will be a tough decision!

why is it that everyone drools over this stupid car?

it's almost a spitting image of the (older model) WRX's. I mean, seriously, what makes it any better than, say, a 00 WRX-STi?

I wouldn't get one, don't worry.

see... I am a SUBARU enthusiast... that's why I'm on the board. I'm not a I-want-an-EVO-but-they-don't-have-it-here-so-I'll-settle-with-a-Subaru type of person.

I wanted a Nissan Skyline too, but I settled on a Subaru, because I don't have 90,000 dollars.

...I guess this makes me less of an enthusiast...

Well.. all I've heard is rumors and seen Japanese pictures.. so who knows if they will follow the WRX lead and bring it over, I'm curious if they need to do anything special to meet emissions, like the three cat thing.

I'm also not sure as to what the price range will be.. 25k seems like such a generic answer to price of a sports car

..there seems to be more chance of an STi version coming out than the Evo..

YAET - Yet Another Evo Thread. *sigh*. I was hoping I wouldn't see any in the NESIC forum, but I guess it was inevitable.

I'll reserve judgement until the car actually reaches the showroom. By 2002/3 then I'll be looking for something to replace my wagon anyway.

heh, nah, the post is cool by me..

Regional forums are kinda thier own tech/gen/OT..

my issue with all the Evo posts was that they don't belong in general.

thats all..

oh, and everyone wants to "own" thier own evo post.. like it will be any differnt than the 4 that already exist.

"I'm not a I-want-an-EVO-but-they-don't-have-it-here-so-I'll-settle-with-a-Subaru type of person. "

I'm exactly that type of person.

It doesn't bother me, and it shouldn't bother anyone else on this board. I remember the days when people would joke about the WRX or EVO ever coming here. Now it appears both will be here in a years time. We should all be happy car makers finally see the US market for Import Performance Cars as being viable. That's the way i see it. It's a victory for all IPC enthusiasts....IMHO

Why would someone bring up the EVO on the Subaru board?

"it's almost a spitting image of the (older model) WRX's. "

Lastly i think that Subaru and Mitsubishi both have some great technologies... however Mitsu has some systems that Subaru just doesn't provide. Now whether those systems are important to everyday drivers like myself, i don't know. But just the fact that they are available, makes me like Mitsubishi.

The reason I started this post was to let everyone know the EVO might be coming to the US. The main reason it will come here is to compete with the WRX.

I think competition between cars is good. When companies try to out-do each other, consumers (like us) get better cars for cheaper money.

I didn't think a big WRX vs EVO controversy would be started. Let's not take it there. This is more of just an FYI.

I find it funny that last year after the Nationals, I came back and told some people this same news, that the EVO will be over here sometime after the WRX...within a year.

People were like, nope, ain't gonna happen.

Would I dump the WRX for an EVO??? Dunno, need to see what they do to it to make it 'US Worthy'.

Would I like to have an EVO Ver. VII. You bet. I would have bought a 3rd gen DSM if they didn't kill the liniage.

Exactly, me too. I wonder if they had the EVO in mind when they decided to kill the turbo eclipse...? EVO 5 was my favorite.

See Korey - I told you KC, Nate, and Brendan would agree with you.
Everyone will really start to see the DSM crowd come back strong in the next year when WRX tuning ramps up, and / if the EVO comes here. It surprises me how many people used to own Mitsu turbo cars.

There is something about those cars that is just hard to explain. It's a total love/hate relationship. If you've ever owned a turbo mitsu-anything, you know what i mean. If you've sat in your friends, it's not the same you have to own it. They are just a totally different car. My first car was my Gvr4, and the only thing i see that may replace my love for that car is the EVO 4 door. Ummmm. Sorry i'll shut the F up now.

I bill harvey would kill most of you guys in the club just to get an evo. you and your imprezas would all be burried in my crawl space to have that in my driveway.
why you ask?
first off because i hardley like any of you ..
secondly. all the power parts from the old dsm movement would fit and they are cheap to make really fast..
finally because i hardley like any of you....
