Yep this is pretty standard all the previous imprezas have some of the JDM wiring. I have been keeping my eye out for some of the newer mirrors if I could land a set I could do better than $800.

You will have a 10-slot or 8-slot connector at your mirror which will have 7 or 9 wires on the door plug side and less than that on the mirror side. The signal wiring is there you just need to add the mirror side wiring, add your signal LED unit, and you are in business! I won't go into mirror dis-assembly or obtaining the signal mirror parts, that is covered other places and varies by model. You want to disassemble the mirror to the point where you can run a wire through the stock sheath into the mirror. I recommend you use a zip tie to do this, push it through, tape the wire in securely and pull it through. Should look like this when you are done, wired into the mirror like all the stock wires.

To add the wires to the stock plug, you need to remove the pin locks the below pics will help to see how that is done.

Once you've removed the pin locks you can insert the pins into the proper slots. Notice the pinouts I've shown are looking at the back of mirror plug. I suggest you test this first, as Mitsuba (makes the mirrors) has changed the signal wiring over the years. An LED is a diode so the polarity (+/-) matters. I do my best to make a version for each car that matches. For the 12+ cars you'll have a set that is marked "L" and "R" to make it easier as the wiring is reported to be opposite each side. Just use each on the proper side and you should be good. The earlier cars the wiring is the same both sides. In all cases, the white wire should be (+) and the green (-) you can test with a 9V battery with the wires plugged into your signal units before you assemble. The worst that can happen is you might have to reverse the wires so that the signal works.

Wiring pinouts below Appendix A. You'll notice the pins are 1 and 4 for non-heated mirror cars, and 1 and 5 for the others. Though the pins are different the logical locations are the same: the signal wires are on the right side top (white) and bottom (green) pins on the mirror plug looking from the back. You simply insert them and put the pin locks back on and you are done. Put the mirror back together and enjoy your new mirror signals!

Appendix A
Without heated mirrors:
1 - Signal (+) (white)
2- Folding(out) (brown)
3- Common (blue)
4- Signal (-) (green)
5- Folding (in) (grey)
6- Up/down (pink)
7- Right/Left (purple)
8- **Unused**

With heated mirrors:
1 - Signal (+) (white)
2- Folding(out) (brown)
3- Common (blue)
4- Heat (black)
5- Signal (-) (green)
6- Folding (in) (grey)

Just an FYI to anyone planning on installing this on Canadian models, its only compatible with Sport, and Limited. The base and Touring versions have the wiring, but they're not powered.

They same goes with US version, its Premium and Limited only.

WRX/STi shouldn't have any issues across all models if you're installing this. Hope that helps.

Ok, here we have the 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Limited. I will be doing a OEM LED mirror retrofit. First you need to order the following parts:
4 - Solderless Terminals
4 - OEM Screws Part No. 91039AJ500 $00.71 each
1 - Left Cover Part No. 91059AJ210 $33.71
1 - Right Cover Part No. 91059AJ200 $33.71
1 - Left Lens Part No. 84401AJ010 $67.48
1 - Right Lens Part No. 84401AJ000 $67.48
PLUS + $14.00 shipping comes out to $219.22

As you can see that one for the mirror covers have the cut out in them. In Japan they paint them and have different part numbers for the painted part, In the USA they only come in that unpainted beige color.

http://i.imgur.com/0e9bd68.png
The lens look like it has a slight tint to them, and have a defusser in the plastic to make the LED look brighter.

http://i.imgur.com/205ngnD.png
This is the wire that you are going to connect the POSITIVE + side of the Signal Lens to inside the door harness (YES) it's already there. The white wire with a red stripe is the turn signal.

http://i.imgur.com/Ua7Toig.png

http://i.imgur.com/opBS3A5.png
This is the finished product below and I will take another picture with the cover painted and on the mirror.
Hopefully this is considered okay under the forum rules. Photobucket went and decided to get greedy rendering the OP effectively useless, I thought it would be nice to rehost the images so the less technically savvy will be able to benefit still. Hopefully IMGUR doesn't decide to pull a Photobucket in 10 years.

This time around I snaked the wires through the inside of the sleeve and into the mirror cavity. I will post some pictures in a few.

The two white wires is what I originally used for my retrofit, but after seeing the OEM I decided to go in one more time, the second time around is so much easier & I learned how to take the antire mirror apart too, very easy indeed. The white wires I used originally are way to big, an overkill really, there is not that much current going through these wires at all.
http://i.imgur.com/GhuKPm5.png
http://i.imgur.com/0SzjZyi.png
You are going to hold the 10pin connector from the mirror plug with the wires facing you,the press tab on top, pin#1 is on your right, connect the harness you got from "Power6" white (+) wire to that empty slot. And then pin#5 is right under it, connect the green (-) wire from the harness to that empty slot and you are done!
http://i.imgur.com/afKcTro.png
Here we got the wires from "Power6" these make the job so much easier. In my Original Post I pretty much worked with what I had on hand. This looks so much cleaner and OEM.
A couple more rehosts. Again, if this is a problem someone just let me know and I will cease and desist. Just a shame to have so many useful posts rendered illegible.

They come up for me and the only issue I have is getting the "scalps".
Thought about doing the whole switch to the "thinner" ***8216;15+ units.

Waiting on Power6 to see if he has any harnesses left.

Im interested in doing this as well.

Reading through this tho, Im not 100% clear...

Is it possible to just buy a used side mirror w/ flasher off ebay/junkyard and just do a plug and play swap or do the harnesses need modification to accept things? Seems its all on the mirror side, but Im not sure ...

For what I gather, they are prewired but only seem to work on the Limited and some other models.

Found plug in harnesses and indicators on ebay and also, ours are ready for the jdm puddle lights SubySpeed sells as well, just need the little screw for them and the lower cap either trimmed or just getting a newer STi one.

Anyone know which scalps to use on the 2014? Are the Forester ones with turn signals the same height?

Never mind, saw that the numbers posted in the first post come back as 2014-2018 Forester units on ebay so I hope to find a silver or black set.

Just found the issue. The door harness on drivers side behind the kick panel has the cable up to the bulk plug in the car. From the car side, the cable is not there so you would either have to pin that plug for a clean install or us a vampire clamp right after the big plug before it goes into the door jam. You can say the cat is half pre-wired.
