Starting the Car...
I have discovered something interesting. I have always hated the way my scooby starts. For some reason, Everytime I start the car, it feels as if it is having a rough time. I thought engine and tranny mounts would reduce the amount of shake the car has on startup. The only thing is I didn't want to replace them b'cause of the work involved. So I have recently done some morning exercises...
Try starting the car right up... (turning the keywithout hesitation) Try turning the key over to hear the chime a few times... (wait for chime to finish or a few at least) My result. The car seems to start up much smoother and quicker. I will be changing the plugs this week and putting some injection cleaner and see if that makeas a difference. Nick.

Actually, many vehicles respond similarly. I believe it's due to the fact that by holding the key in the pre-ignition notch, you allow the engine to pre-adpot to the ambient conditions by activating all the electronics (02 sensors and all).

I think more importantly turning the key to on, then waiting to start the car gives the fuel pump a moment to re pressurize the system. If you turn the key on, and start the car all in one turn, the fuel pump is trying to pressurize the system, while you are cranking the car, wondering why it does not start right up. This is really obvious if the car sat for a while.

Honestly, I do this all of the time ever since my discovery. It starts up much easier every time and the car has less of that side to side motion.

Nailed it on the head. You are re-pressurizing the system.

Hey that's pretty cool. You really have to let it sit there for a few chimes or it doesnt work that well.
