2013 WRX Grimmspeed plate relocation
What's up everyone!
I was looking to get the GrimmSpeed License Plate Relocation Kit for my 2013 WRX. After looking at the front-end of my WRX today, I'm noticing that the tow-hook location is not a small pryable square anymore, it seems to be a huge section of the inside of the fender. Pictured here: http://i.imgur.com/B8BZrYu.jpg Do I really have to take off that whole inside corner of the mouth to screw this tow-hook in? RSD recommended that I take it off, notice the location, and then put it back on and drill my own hole. Any suggestions here?

I installed that on my 2013 and the plate will cover the entire hole. I wouldnt drill a hole, that just seems like a waste of time and if you ever get rid of the relocation kit now you have a permanent hole in that section. I can try to take a picture when i get home later of the plate.

The plate fully covers it. I have one too.
The plate is so close that you don't see the other piece missing. |

Is it a Universal Kit? In other words, my front plate on my '07 was drilled into the front middle of the front end ?WTF? and I'm looking for something like this. Please let me know how it turns out and where it's best to buy it.

I have one in my 13 sti. Just take the piece off and install the kit. The license plate covers up the entire void. No big deal. Don't drill through the piece. Just put it away.

Here is a pic of what I did, bought it from the dealer for under $20 and I already had some WRB single stage in a can. I run my plate very low, so it did not cover up the "void". I had a small, but noticeable area above the plate.
I Did have to use a spacer and a longer bolt to install the factory cover back on Last edited by KA-T_240; 03-16-2013 at 06:15 PM. |

I was skeptical about this as well, but it it seems the license plate will do a good job of hiding the missing insert. I just ordered mine a few days ago; I have no intentions of drilling holes into my new car.

Just installed mine yesterday. You can see the opening if you look around the plate but besides that it's not visible. |

On my Legacy it would have left a massive chunk of bumper missing, so I took a dremel to the cover and used a 3/4" grommet to seal it.

I did this for my 2012, bought the front an rear cover plates and drilled a hole in them so I could mount tow rings in the winter keeping the originals for the summer when I don't need the hooks. |
