Probably wouldn't matter too much besides adding a little more tubing and such for the pressure signal to fill so you might see some boost oscillation on the highway/high gear. You certainly won't see the benefit.
It's really so easy to install that I just say you have the t fittings and tubing ready and you and the installer can take the 5 min to splice it in at the shop. It would be pretty hard to set the MBC when you just have a standard 3 port boost control map on there anyway. You'd never see enough wgdc for the MBC to take full control. |

I share ride5000s view, FWIW. Fixing PTFB takes almost no extra work at all, like 5 minutes tops, so I see no reason not to. It's nowhere near as much work as regular EBCS tuning, you just need to ramp down WGDC at low throttle. EDIT: Here's the table I was referring to: Last edited by NSFW; 10-04-2011 at 01:52 AM. |

Wow it works. No more 0-450hp unless I want to.

That's a new one, someone asks for a how-to in the how-to thread itself. Forget the search bar just read...you're sitting on top of it. Now someone tell me where I put my sunglasses. Oh yeah, I'm wearing them |

im gonna have to go try this again.....i dont remember it making a difference.
i dont think i drive like other people though. I dont think i ever just hold the throttle at anywhere between 40% and 95% throttle. if im cruising around its <40%....if i wanna go fast its 100%. plus my throttle mapping is aggressive so that 75% is 100% anyway.... |

Vehicle:. Always drive the race line . |
^ So you've effectively reduced the stroke of your accelerator pedal. I'm guessing you are mostly interested in straight line WOT? That's too bad. The steering wheel is fun to play with too.

I drive in twisties and dirt too....steering wheel gets plenty of use. Drag racing is my least favorite
If I can get third place in my class on a 1st n 2nd gear track with a dom4 vs vf'd cars who have a big low gear advantage...i'd say it's working for me |

Mine was behaving a bit weirdly, although I forget what it was doing wrong and I don't care to think it through again at this point in time. Regardless, I fixed it by capping the port on the solenoid that is normally either vented or recirculated back to the turbo inlet. Accordingly, I had to scale back the duty cycle a bunch(except for WOT) since the only point of release was through the small hole in the output fitting on the mbc. Now the system works exactly as it's supposed to.

if you think its the ext wg, then simply unhook the ebcs and run mbc only.....this will tell you if its your ext wg or if you just had the ebcs plumbed wrong

Just an update. I've been running the hybrid boost control system now for....around a year I think? It still performs great.
Just for reference its a dual wastegate/EBCS/MBC setup on a small 16G, where I see 10 psi spring pressure on the IWG (STI catback exhaust...stealthy) and 17 psi on the EWG. I had been running E85 at 20 psi on the EWG, but switched back to 91 @ 17 psi for the winter months. |
