Anyone here ever been to the quad cities cars and coffee meet? I've been thinking about going but I'm not sure if it would be worth taking off a day of work to do it

Default Nasioc Newbie in Burlington

I have a 2004 Subaru WRX and i'm In Burlington (south east Iowa). I am looking for recommendation on a shop. Almost all of the work done on my car was done by P&L Motorsports in the burbs of Chicago.

I'm looking to perhaps upgrade to the 2.5 sti engine or get a 2.0 jdm sti installed.

Off the line performance is who you want to talk to. They are the state Subaru performance shop. Talk to Justin North or Mike Bryant.

Thank you. Talked to them yesterday. I'm conflicted would you guys go with a hybrid 2.5 setup or stay 2.0

I've seen it around town before. Don't know the owner. $12k is a hearty asking price for something with that many miles.

Have you looked it over yet?

I want to beat corvettes on the street.

In all seriousness I've read that in order to use the 2.5 block with the 2.0 heads it requires special pistons.
You can't simply buy ej25 heads online? What an I missing.

You can get the combustion chamber on your 2.0 heads machine to work with the 2.5 block. Or buy new 2.5 heads.

I have looked it over. It is pretty janky to say the least. The rear window spoiler is some cheap carbon fiber and looks like crap as it is very worn, it has an invidia axelback and would assume the rest of the exhaust is also invidia, it has the STI bumper add ons that look like they are about to fall off. The interior has a nice double-din screen but then also has a radio mounted up where the clock is which looks like crap and very out of place. From a distance the car definitely catches the eye and I liked it, but upon closer inspection it shows its wear. A lot of the add ons just seem cheap tbh.

Feel free to hit us up with any questions the 3 options are 1)use 2.5 heads 2) machine the combustion chamber 3) run hybrid pistons. Using the 2.5 heads is a pain because they are all AVCS and the 2.0l cars can't use the AVCS, so you have to do quite a bit of mixing and matching with cams and sensors to get them to work properly. Machining the heads is much more costly than doing the hybrid pistons but is a good option if you chose that route. We typically just use the hybrid pistons.

I have a 2013 Subaru WRX that I got around a year ago. I live in the West Des Moines area, and I am looking for a recommendation on a shop in the central Des Moines area. I have never modified a car before but I plan to get started on my WRX if I can find a good reliable shop in DSM.

We had a decent turn out at the most recent autox.

Where in Iowa are you? There is an event Sat and Sunday in Oskaloosa. Iowa City/Cedar Rapids people normally meet up and cruise down together.

I haven't seen anything lately about an Eastern Iowa meet, the facebook page (Iowa Subaru Club) has a meet every now and again near DSM.

I'm located in south east Iowa in between Mt. Pleasant and Burlington. I wouldn't be opposed to driving a few hours but I would like to wait until summer because I need to fix my car up some more. can you link me the facebook page?

Someone left a note on my car last year saying, "Sick WRX BRO! etc etc etc. If you aren't a member you should join the FB page." I was disappointed it wasn't some cute girl but was like okay why not and sent a request. After not hearing back for awhile I noticed a message in my 'other' inbox and it was from the moderator. He was trying to weed out randoms so he wanted me to write a persuasive essay as to why I should be a member of their group. After writing about how I wanted to share my knowledge as well as gain knowledge from others in the Iowa Subaru Community he said okay that's great, now do this and this and this and then send me another request I was like screw it, it's not worth it and moved on with my life.

All that work is dumb. Not sure why they'd do that.

I can try and relay any meets and events on here.

Where are you at 206?

Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday is a test and tune.

Not sure if I'll be going to both.

Des Moines Valley Region SCCA is hosting.
