There's a heatshield right above the muffler...you might be able to raise the tips an inch at most?

As for the bumper... How did you measure the cuts? Did you remove the bumper? I'm trying to decide whether I should remove the bumper or not. My guess is I would do a better job by removing it, although it'll be a lot easier to leave it on.

Mine's silver also, so your pic just gave me an actual idea of how it'll look on my car. I don't like how low the tips look, so I might have to work around that, but I'll probably replace the tips with bigger ones to better fill the gap...
Top to bottom. - They do hang pretty low, i just noticed that. I Just put it on and bam! it fitted cause the hangers are the same for the hatches. I believe you could bend it but i'd question the strength of it. if you could safely do it, you could. -I basically cut off the rectangle of the left side up to the top and to the first divider next to it (right). I did it with it on and a very steady hand and good saw. - the tips are a bit small but you could just buy any sti or 11wrx+ exhaust cause they would all work, i just happen to get mine really cheap and i prefer a quiet car so i got the stock one.

check the link out for some more pics, theyre not recent cause i have a sti spoiler and black emblems now. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2399047

So, finally got the muffler and midpipe. Did you get the whole thing, or just the muffler? My car came to life with this swap. Now I have that deep rumble sound.

As for the bumper, here's how I cut it:

There's an uneven area on the left side, but I noticed it after taking the picture, so it's fixed.

As for the muffler hanging low, I tried this: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...62224.html?amp;, but it didn't work as well. Since our hangers are placed at an angle, I just managed to bring it up by roughly 1/4 inch.

I saw some perforated rubber belts meant for exhaust hangers, so I'll try that next week and post pics if it actually brings it up as much as I want, which is almost centered within the areas I cut out from the bumper.

So, the deep rumble, but not loud enough to bother cops into ticketing? I also have a dp, but it was as quiet as oem with the factory catback. That's what I liked about this swap, plus the fact that it is an oem muffler. Most cops here, when they hear the rumble, they first ask if it's turbo. Since most of the Subies they see here have at least loud aftermarket exhausts, first mod most Subie owners do here, they just think it's normal and let you get away with it.

mine was "disturbing the peace" even i had a headache after going through interstates to travel a lot. i'd have to shout to my passenger in the back to have a convo at 65 mph. there is a drone that annoys me a bit when i'm crusing down a hill without touching the gas, but its quiet as a normal catback. its nice to cruise around without so much noise. i just it had a little bit more to it and a wider exhaust tip. i'd go with a spt exhaust but i'm trying not to spend anymore money on my car until i upgrade to a 2010ish sti.

My noise isn't as much, and even less when cruising. You can hear the rumble even with the windows up, but it's not loud enough to have to shout to the rear passengers.

As for raising the mufller, I bought the belt I mentioned before, but I'll need some vise grips or something to get the rods closer together, which I don't have. I did one side, but didn't have the strength to pull the other while placing the belt.

I did find a different hanger with 2 extra holes which are a bit closer. I used those and manged to bring it up about 1/2". Now the tips look 1/2 way over and 1/2 way under the lower border of the bumper. I need to take a full rear pic to compare, but I can see the difference.

And you're right... it needs wider tips. I found some at ebay which I liked, but I'm holding out on that because of it's going to be around $75 for the pair with shipping to PR. I don't want to spend any more either, but I know I will. Here are the tips I saw: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261065591525...84.m1423.l2649

Those are very similar to the ones I'm looking at on ebay, but the seller wants $75 for the pair, shipping included, so I wouldn't be saving if I just bought one set.

Thanks anyway.
