Thumbs up The NESIC Job Bank

I figured that since the economy is doing so well, there might be a few people here on NESIC that are looking for a new job, or a career change, or are simply interested in seeing what is out there.

I also figured that there may some folks here who work for a company that is hiring, or who know of a place that is hiring, and who might be able to benefit from finding the right person for the job here on NESIC.

With any luck, this thread can help connect some of the people looking for work with companies looking for people.

If you are looking for a job, post up with your background. If you are aware of any openings, post them up here (with links if possible).

Anyway, here's to helping each other out.

I'll start -

Background

Sales/Sales Management (7 years - mortgage industry)
Corporate Trainer (2 years, mortgage industry)
Electrician (not licensed - family business)

Education
BS - Communications from Boston University

Location
Middletown, CT

Looking for:
Something that isn't sales - willing to work my way up, not opposed to starting new, all I need right now is an opportunity to prove myself. Unfortunately, right now, every interview I get is for sales, and I just don't want to go down that road any more.

So, NESIC - who else is looking for a job, and what is it you do? Better yet, who is looking to hire, and what is it you need?

Something that doesn't involve sitting at a desk/computer all day. I'm very interested in interior and kitchen & bath design. I'm willing to work in kitchen and bath sales if designing is something I can take part in. I'd like to work toward real estate investment/flipping in the long run. I'm not opposed working on computer or at a desk, but not all day everyday, yadda yadda.

Can anyone help me out with an entry level job/internship in IT?

I am currently in my 3rd year of college with a double major in IT and Business.

Every place I have contacted said they are not looking for anyone

hey Ethan whats going on? I guess i will add to the thread.

Education: Graduated from Seton Hall University with a BA in Criminal Justice 07

Background: I worked six months in a federal and DOC half way house. There i helped run the day to day operations along with searching individuals, rooms, possessions, and adminstering drug tests.
From there i moved into a residential program for people with dual diagnosis along with ABI and TBI clients. There i helped teach my clients everyday living skills and took them into the community to teach them to live independently. I was also there for any crises, aka suicidal attemps, outbusts, etc. Left due to a family issue.

Location: Central CT

Looking for: My dream job would be a probation officer, but i have not heard back from my interview in August. Still holding out hope since i was told they would start hiring once the state hiring freeze is over. Realistically i would want a job involved in a court or law. I have applied for paralegal positions, but most require experiance.

Thanks.

I'm not looking for anything. I'm alright where I am.

But if anyone happens to want to work in Human Services ... I know it's a stretch, then check this out: http://www.alternativesnet.org/careers.asp

We actually have an administrative opening for a Fiscal Manager... (It's not on our website yet though...)

Uh, I just realized I kind of 'broke' a rule of networking here...

Which is to network even when you DON'T need a job...

So...

Currently an MBA student (concentration in Marketing). Graduated Ithaca College with a degree in music and minor in advertising/public relations.

Worked all sorts of 'retail' and 'service' jobs through school.

Volunteered and interned in various positions that combined both my love for the arts (mainly performance) and marketing/advertising.

Currently, I am an Assistant to the Executive Director at Alternatives, a non-profit human service agency based in Whitinsville, MA. For those in the 'corporate' world, an Exec. Director would be like a CEO. In my position, I touch on many different aspects from marketing to finances, and the whole gamut from programmatic issues to administrative issues. What I miss in pay (vs. a corporate job) I make up for experience. How many people my age get to attend Board meetings? Or Management Team meetings? I'm learning all I can.

For those of you who use it, I'm on LinkedIn, which is ... social networking for adults... but not THAT KIND of adult site... LOL: http://www.linkedin.com/in/hqp921 Might be helpful to set up a profile and start networking and building your contacts!

On top of going to grad school PT and working FT, I am also a musician - I currently teach 2 students, but at it's peak, I think I was teaching 6 students a week. I actually have two more prospects lined up. I play in a band, as well as play solo gigs. My site for that: www.hung-pham.com or you can check out a couple vids on YouTube: www.youtube.com/hqp921

I am always looking to help out in some sort of marketing/advertising situation, especially as it relates to the arts, though it doesn't specifically need to be. I am well versed in "the formal" side of things: writing press releases, etc; and the 'creative' side of things: Creating brochures, postcards, etc. using Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design.

If anyone is in accounting or tax, has a degree, and is looking to work at a public firm in Springfield, Boston, New York, or New Haven PM me. I can likely get interviews at two separate firms.

BACKGROUND: Currently working as an administrator at a local high volume motorcycle dealership. I've been with the same company for almost 3 years now. Previously worked retail (for around 5 years or so), and also did a few years of construction.

EDUCATION: Graduated with a Bachelors from the University at Albany in Sociology/Criminology.

LOCATION: Currently located in Fairfield county, Connecticut, but am willing to rellocate for the right position/opportunity. I am originally from the suburbs of New York City, and would have no problem moving to that area.

LOOKING FOR: As of right now, I am fairly happy with my job. However, it is a job, I am looking for a career. I have climbed the ladder with my current company, and am looking to expand my skills somewhere else. I have started to look more into a career dealing with my studies, so something with law or human resource work may be a nice change of pace. Since I do enjoy doing what I do now, I am not opposed to finding a career within the automotive/motorcycle industry.

Thanks for any help/suggestions...

I will keep my eye open for others as well.

Hmmm... is it a HD/Buell dealership by chance (noticed your vehicles...). Wanna let me test ride the 1125's? (R and CR).

Or maybe it's a Triumph dealership and you want to sell me a Daytona 675 SE...

Figure I'll chime in as well.

Education: BS in Biology- Fitchburg State

Background: -Somatic Cell Nuclear Injection (cloning) 4yrs worth
-Work in IVF lab currently with 4+yrs
-Working on R&D for IVF materials (current as well)

Location: Boston, MA

Looking for: Like others I'm happy now, but always looking for more.......aka Advancment in lab such as supervisor. Consulting in both R&D and clinical loads. Ohh and I'd prefer a better commute since I waste 3+hrs a day just driving to and from work.
