Godspeed Exhaust??????
Ok so, I've been doing research on this subject for the past 2 days, but really haven't found any good info. I've searched the vendor review on here too, but the Godspeed that is reviewed on this site seems to have gone out of buisness. So here it goes.
I've been seeing a CBE or a TBE w/ U-pipe combo on many sites. They are extremly cheap, and I probably know better to think about it, but I was wondering if anyone had ever used one or had any experiance with it. Some people have said that its a replica of an HKS exhaust, but no 100% sure if it's true or not. Any info would be appreciated. Like I said before I probably know that it's a too good to be true deal, but I'm kind of curious about it now.

ok well here's what i found if you go with the ebay exhaust which most consist of the tbe beware of fitment issues it will bolt up of but could be up against the center diff or against your bumper and melt it they also are kinda short in length but i mean if you dont have the money but need and exhaust then the ebay one will work but may need a little tweaking but other wise if you have the money go with a good brand name exhaust it doesnt even have to be new there are a bunch for sale on here and all over the place.

You def need to be careful with "these" type of exhaust. I bought an "ebay" exhaust on my 350z and i didnt have any problems with it and it happened to be an HKS replica as well. To tell you the truth, its really hit or miss with these things. Also unless your car is a track car, do you really NEED the exhaust right at this second probably not. Look on Nasioc for some private classified ads. Theres some nice used "Name" brand exhausts on here that start at around $350 bucks. On a turbo car i wouldnt use an ebay exhaust, remember you get what you pay for and when i got mine the exhaust was in perfect condition but all the gaskets and bolts that came with it were cheap as hell.
So all in all, i'd wait and save up a couple hundred more bucks and get something that you know is going to be reliable. I personally love the COBB cat back exhaust and the COBB catted down pipe. You can hear it on Youtube, its a tad bit louder than the SPT, you still get the nice Boxer rumble, but you dont get the highway drone as much as a loud exhaust. Also its COBB so you know its reliable. Most of these Ebay exhaust are from China, well most Exhaust period are made in China but at least if something goes wrong with a "Name" brand system you'll have a english speaking customer service rep to talk to. Who are you going to speak with if the Godspeed exhaust doesnt fit correctly? Just my two cents.... |

Godspeed is a scammer replica company. Goodspeed is the good company that they took their name from that went out of business (but has since re-opened).
Godspeed trash is more valuable melted down and buried than it is in the form of the products they sell. |

It's A damn piece of metal going from the turbo. Your gains will be similar to that of a name brand. Fitment can be a issue though. Some people need to cut and reweld hangars. Not a big deal though. I personally ran a Godspeed fmic on my sr20. Fitment was **** but worked great. Supported 400whp with no issues.

I am also a firm believer in name brand, however exhaust are where I think you can cheap out on. Look hard in the classifieds though. I bet you could get a turboxs or others for close to 300 shipped for a full turbo back.

The biggest issue you will see living in Ohio is the fact that a cheapo exhaust will rust extremely quickly in the winters of the midwest.
You get what you pay for, don't expect premium quality and results for scrap metal price. |

i've had firsthand experience with godspped products and customer service.
Customer service was top notch. I recieved the wrong turbo inlet. They said send it back and theyd send one back out to me. I told them i was in a rush they said send it back and give them a tracking number and they'd overnight me one. two days later (i sent mine back the next day) i had my new correct inlet. Fitment on the inlet (i have one, and my father has the same one) is top notch. Didnt have to remove the intake manifold, cut anything, or any other shenanigans. My father has their catless up pipe. Its got decent welds, decent flex pipe, flanges, etc... We'll see how long it lasts and if something unexpected should happen, i'll be speaking to their customer service in california, not china, or india, or wherever else.... My father is also running their coilovers. @ $600 their pretty cheap. We're willing to take a chance on them based on their other products quality. If i have a problem with them, i wont be afraid to say so. Cheaper exhausts are something i'm a big believer in. As long as its stainless steal, decent flanges and welds and the right diameter, comes with the hardware etc.. I'm all about it. I've run countless cheaper exhausts with no ill effects on various cars. My father is running a Speedtech turbo back. Fitment was decent, and people say his car sounds better than mine and i have an uber expensive (when new MSRP was $1k+) BPM tbe. (we both have stage 2 2002 wrx's). This is what I'd do if i were you: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ight=speedtech |

All of the flanges were warped and rusted beyond recognition. The hangers were even worse. Initialy I was going to salvage the thing so I cut most of the hardware off with a nut splitter. I was worried if I torqued on the bolts too hard welds would start breaking. It was rubbing the rear end pretty badly at some point until the previous owner stuck a hose clamp around one hanger to keep the exhaust from moving around. I've never seen stainless piping rust like it did on this exhaust. It was terrible. The bell mouth on the down pipe was ridiculous. It wasn't really a bell mouth at all. They just took the 3 inch pipe and smashed it into a trapezoid shape so it could be welded to the turbo outlet flange. The flange didn't even line up on the back of the turbo. There was a huge leak on the bottom of the bell mouth. I'd love to see some flow bench testing on how terrible it flows. Then the best part, the cat. When I removed the down pipe, the cat was falling apart. Two or three ounces of loose cat material fell out as soon as I dumped the pipes out. I'd love to see how much is lodged in the muffler. Then what was left of the cat, which seems to be about the size of my fist, just bounces around in the hump where the cat material was once attached. I started working on the car to replace a cracked Invidia header with a stock manifold and Moore Performance up pipe. After I had taken the down pipe off I could not in good conscious put the thing back on. I ended up going in the garage and taking the Cobb TBE off my 02, and putting it on his car, until he can afford to buy a decent exhaust in a few months. I guess I'll have to wait even longer to be able to get my car running, but there was no way I was going to let him run that exhaust. I have had experience with several other cheap-o exhausts on Subarus. I've done several repair welding jobs on them. Welds cracking seem to be very common. The last one I fixed I welded a patch plate in the side of the muffler, where the hanger ripped the side of the muffler off. I then welded the hanger back on. I don't know what kind of horrible metal those things are made from but it is the worst thing to weld ever. There is so much crap and contamination in the metal. It reminds me of welding galvanized steel. "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." Last edited by FourOnTheFloor65; 10-20-2010 at 06:00 PM. |

Another option is to buy the "universal fit" muffler from the manufacturer of your choice, then have a local exhaust shop weld/bend for your application. Take an HKS hi-power. Universal fit muffler and installation for axle back ~260 bucks. Pre-built axle back: ~460 bucks.
I think people get all whacked in the noggin, and figure that more $ = more performance. Sometimes this is true, but there are often better ways to do things. |

My local shop quoted me $170 for mandrel bent 3 inch from the cat back, I figure a decent muffler on that would still come out well below the typical money spent on a cat back. Automotive Mandrel bending ain't the myth and legend it was 5 years ago, and isn't anywhere nearly as expensive as it was then either. |
