Not that it helps, but I've got the exact same issue. I've had to bring my '11 WRX in to my dealership 3 times for the same problem. Misfire on all 4 cylinders. I've tried 6 different gas stations and my oil has been changed by Subaru, so I assume they are using the right oil. Still having the same problem.

so the oil change interval for the 2011 WRX is every 7500 miles if you're using synthetic?

7500 is the longest interval you can go for, no need to change at 3,500 anymore.... |

These dealerships didn't have it, makes you wonder what they use on new STI transmissions. |

So your statemtment that they use the wrong oil is incorrect. They use the proper weight that meets the requirements that subaru wants. Then they will stock synthetic stuff as well as subaru synthetic oil. |

I wasn't implying that they use the wrong oil, I was implying that they don't stock the correct oil. Where is an STI owner going get EXTRA-S? Can't buy it it in quarts, they come in 5 gallon containers. Why should an STI owner have to look else where other than the dealership if he wants EXTRA-S just because the dealerships don't stock it. Shouldn't SOA force the dealerships to sell stuff that's required in the manual? I was just stating that just because the manual say "X" should be use, doesn't mean that the dealership will use "X" stated by the manual, which is ironic. |

Damn, my 2012 WRX hatch is having the same issues of CEL: all cylinder misfire, and it comes on when idling due to tons of bogging. Got about 8k miles.
Based on what I've read so far, I'm going to swap plugs first. I think i read another thread which mentioned that there was a leak on the intake side of things? found when then removed the intercooler? That or a valve adjustment, yikes. |

Food for thought: 2011+ turbo lof interval is 7,500 mi. Efficiently running stock motor can burn up to 1 qt every 3750 mi. Most A-holes dont check their oil level nearly as often as they should. Proper turbo lubrication is absolutely critical for longevity. What i'm saying is dont just fill it up with gas, never open the hood, beat the crap out of your car, and then run your motor 2 qts low on oil at lof intervals, & then bitch when your "pos subaru" is in the shop. The coking process begins & your turbo WILL fail prematurely. If driven hard & modded, every 2k miles. stock, stick to 3750 tops.
As far as oils: syn 5w-30, 75w-90 & LSD 75/80-90 for rear diff (provided you're not in extreme climates) As for the similarly described misfire/driveability issues, its not the oil, its likely tight exhaust valves. (but use the rec. oil) |

I have 2010 SE STI, Cobb Stage I + AEM. car has been using Rotella T6 5w-40 for last 35k miles. no issues.
burn about 1qt every oil change, mostly from PCV blowby. S# can run up to 18PSI. MobileOne 5w-30 burned like no tomorrow, I had to use T6. if your turbo run beyond stock 14.7PSI, heavier Rotella is a good idea. |

I had the same thing happen on my '12 WRX. The first time was on 5/20/13 when I was at 44,694 miles (yes, I drive a TON). That time was just a misfire on cylinder 1. More recently, on 7/26, my CEL came back on and I pulled P0301 through P0304 -- misfire on all 4 cylinders. A couple of weeks later, I put in some injector cleaner. Driving home last night, I noticed the CEL had cleared itself. Glad it happened when it did because I had an appointment to bring it in tomorrow. I change my oil religiously at 7,500 miles with 5W-30 Mobil 1 full synthetic and don't really drive my car too hard. |

I have a 2013 wrx and it had multiple misfires also. I just got it back and they said it was something with the wiring harness at B-21 connector.
From the maintence report: Opened harness at b-21 connector under and inspected crimp connection for grounds inside harness, crimp was tight and clean, solder connection per request of tech line anyway and reassembled harness. They also said my 4th cylinder had a tight intake valve. Hope this helps. |
