Aftermarket tweeters in stock location?
Has anyone put aftermarket tweeters in the stock location on an '05 STi? Finding woofers seems to be no problem, but I haven't seen anything on the tweeters. I'd like to upgrade the speakers, but want to keep the stock look.

since the tweeters are behind the door panel, u shouldnt have a problem with the "stock look". u cant even see them.
get components, that will solve ur problem exactly. unless u are not running an amp to power them. what is ur situation. we have to knwo details on your information before we can really answer what u want |

Tweeter install in the factory location is simple. I've got mine screwed in, but often use hot-glue with great results (Can I just say that I love black hot glue). I would keep the gain on the high-low converters pretty low to help keep down engine noise, especially with that amp. Good luck

The stock ones are welded to a bracket, thats why i think most people do it like in this pic. You just cut a hole and install the tweet. No bracket needed.

No need to cut any holes. 3M tape or hot glue works fine.

they are NOT welded, and if you don't use that bracket, you won't get nearly the same sound, unless you fab one up that brings the face of the tweeter up closer to the grill, and at an angle. If it shoots straight out, the sound has to turn to even get OUT of the grill, and you will lose a lot |

I've got Focals in the front door and the tweeters fit perfectly- all with the OEM look.

I just found another nit to pick with this installation - not trying to be a jerk though. Why spend the $200 on the pods and put the tweeter in the stock location???

i used jb weld to secure the aftermarket tweeter to the stock bracket. Worked perfect once the jb weld set.
