Does anyone here have an AVO turbo kit for the 2004+ Impreza RS's?
Just wondering if there were installation issues and engine problems after? Want to buy but want some feed back.

BTW, everybody on this forum will say trade in your car and get a WRX and get EM, DP, UP, EX, and you'll be laughing. Better reliability than having to do a RS-T. Less aircare issues to worry about etc.
At the end of the day, I think we all would agree WRX would be the better route to go. But if you really want to go RS-T route, there are TONS of threads you can search up on. Before I got my RS-T, I read for 8 months on aftermarket turbo selections for the RS. Eventually, AVOTurbo sponsored me and I had my turbokit installed. I don't have one regret going the RS-T route, then again, I didn't have enough time to enjoy it. If you have any questions, post here and I'm sure the group can answer it. kgb bought my kit and put it on his GC, I had it on my GD. Last edited by fukamoto; 08-22-2006 at 06:56 PM. |

Its a reality you'll have to face. The oil pan situation took 4-5 days to figure out because there was a bolt to get off through the crossmember which was difficult. Then when the oil pan had a fitting welded, it was too high on the oil pan, and thus I had to replace it with a new one from Subaru and get another fitting welded. Then I had it stuck for about 18 days because the ignition wiring map from the Subaru wiring guide was kind of...well, messed up. But all in all, it was a beast. I was side by side with a stock STi up until 120km/hr then the STi pulled away.
Is it worth the money? It retails for about $4500US I believe. Installation charges are close to $1200US. I'd highly recommend going WRX route, but at the end of the day, its up to you. |

The big question is who's gonna do your wiring? I got shoddy wiring but it works and it's ugly as hell, now that I want to change ECU it's a bigger problem.

I can highly recommend the guy who did mine. He is a genius with wiring. He does all the custom wiring for the high-end shops in Vancouver/Richmond and did a 16 or 24 valve on a 86 Corolla.
IF you are interested, drop me a PM. |
