Default 05 STI, FP Red on dyno log

hey guys after working all weekend on this install i finally finished it. had to grind the block for the lower coolant line, loosen the intake manifold to muscle on the inlet pipe, which may i say does not fit correctly no matter what perrin or FP say.

Got everything done about 2 hours before i was scheduled to get tuned.

Mods:
FP Red 7cm housing internally gated
perring 3" inlet
cobb 70mm intake
invidia divorced wastegate dp
stock up
aps 3" single tip exhaust
pe 800s with pump
ssac fmic core with aps pipes and aps fmic bov

OH, and the TGV's are still installed!! had to remove the rear sensor on the passenger side though for the turbo to clear.

DYNO: Dynolog (low reading)

Numbers before the turbo swap with everything the same but the fmic, inlet and turbo:

228whp, 264wtq

Numbers now:

341whp, 303wtq 19psi

i gained over 100hp from the stock turbo and it pulls to redline. Problem is with the IWG, i'm having boost creep up to 22-23 psi at redline. my tuner tried to add fuel up there the best he could but the wastegate was 100% open and still building boost.

I'll post all the graphs when i get home so you guys can take a look. I'm very impressed with how responsive the car is and i think those are pretty good numbers on this dyno. I believe a stock sti dynos below 200 on this.

graphs coming.

may have been a lil easier to get the inlet on if the intake manifold off

yes it would have been, but with the diameter being what it is and the dogleg left at the end not being aggressive enough, it still got crimped like a motha on the manifold right before the turbo. either way, we got it in.

Sounds like an 8cm hotside might have helped with the creep issue.

Why didn't you go with the 8cm exhaust housing to begin with? Are you planning on running an external wastegate later on?

I've got an 05 STi fp red as well but with an 8cm housing. I haven't gotten any creep. But those numbers sound about right. Meth is next, more boost and a safer set up.

I would look for a vac pre turbo I had the same thing w/ my 7cm red... it turned out to just be a vac leak pre turbo.

well, i didn't go with the 8cm because i bought this turbo from a guy here on nasioc, although it was brand new. i do plan on going EWG in the future.

don't think i have a leak, we watched the wastegate open up 100% and the turbo was still building boost. can't hurt to check this out though.

I got it tuned at Mavrik Motorsports by Ed (formerly of ESX, Brainstorm...) He hadn't tuned in a while. took him 8 hours and he didn't start till 8pm sunday night. i was there till 4am!! he never gave up though.

Here are the graphs. The third shows my old dyno vs. the new. my AFR's go a bit lean at redline due to the boost creep. Ed tried to add fuel up top but wasn't noticing any increase in fuel past 85% duty cycle. He couldn't figure out why.

The car feels very responsive and is an animal when it comes onto boost. i love the high pitch whistle the turbo makes as well.

You might be going static on the injectors at that point, even though IDC's are reported at 85%. You could try upping fuel pressure a little bit and pulling out a tad in the lower ranges to compensate.

nice! Your car is a great candidate for alcohol injection... you could safely run that 22-23 psi number I'd bet.

thanks guys. i thought it was a good number on that dyno, especially with the tgvs still in. i plan on removing them, installing an EWG and adding meth hopefully early next year. i'd love to break 400 on that dyno.

got to learn to drive my car before i do that. i have 140 more hp and 100 more tq at redline now so it's a handful for me right now. fun as hell though.

graphs look nice, although its hard to see much definition with those thick lines in that chart. did Ed purposly lean it out up top, looks like it worked well the power just keep climbing.

edit: read your comment nevermind ^

Post up a log if you can, specifically with AFR and MAF g/sec. If the MAF limit wasn't upped or if the intake wasn't scaled correctly, this could account for what you are seeing.

Ed is currently working at South Coast Subaru, but will be moving to Irvine Subaru as the shop forman. He is tuning part time at Mavrik.

yes this is on 91, unfortunately i don't have a egt gauge yet.

crazymike, these are all the printouts i got. Ed almost finished the tune when he realized he was on the small map for the maf. He bumped it up for the bigger maf and it through off a lot. He had to go back in and take out a lot of fuel in the midrange.

Now my question is this.

Is he lifting early? Or is the dyno not reading right? By 6600 RPM your power levels are absolutely tanking, as is boost.

Now, is the 3.93 correction a percentage? If so sounds like you're making around 250AWHP on an uncorrected dyno. Might be a touch low, but on 91 octane it certainly isn't unthinkable.

Other then that, looks good!

If he's dialing in fuel up top, and it's not enrichening consider the pump, regulator, or pump controller.

Yes, I know you have an aftermarket pump, but believe me, it wouldn't be the first time I've had a similar situation with a "walbro", to swap it, and all of the sudden flood the fuel mixture because I had been over compensating it in vain.

Looks great!

RiftsWRX,
No he's not lifting early, I had a problem with the timing pick up so I had to do the RPM off of wheel speed and got the number off a little.

Yes the number before the SAE J607 is the percentage of correction. Each run will have it's own correction factor. The correction factor you are reffering to is off his old run before all his modification, and yes if you subtract the correction factor it came out to 253.6 WHP uncorrected. His run after his modifications has a correction factor of 4.67% for a uncorrected number of 325.7 WHP

Best regards, Teddy

4.6%?!?!?

Damn, I get pissed off when my dynojet would add in .02% and have simply shut off the factors overall to not inflate the numbers.
