2008+ wrx does not come with an oil cooler
No need to upgrade oil pump or replace. Stock one works great.

Ah. I figured since he lost compression then maybe some metal might have gotten loose and therefore to be safe just get a new oem oil pump.

We didn't find anything. All looked really clean. We also idled the car for at least half an hour after reassembly, then drained the oil and it looked perfect.

That's a lot of torque for STI rods. Glad to see the car up and running.

High's in the 60's F this week in MN, so the BBS wheels are back on! If it gets cold again, I'll have to swap back.

This whole thread has been like a soap opera for me. I started reading it Saturday night. When I got to the page where xluben says his engine is blown, NASIOC website goes on maintenance. So there I am, in full rage mode at 2am wondering if you're really going to sell your car after all that work, lol. In any case, nice to know your car is back on the road!

Hahahhahah, well put yourself in my shoes.

It was late at night, and after reading all the mods Ben did to his car I was inspired. On top of that it was nice to read that other people on the thread felt the same way. It's nice to see other people being willing to blow as much money on a toy as you are (because after all these things are just expensive man toys). In any case, several times throughout my read it seemed he was well aware he was going to either blow his engine, break his clutch, or wear out the transmission in the near future.

Then when it does happen, hes like "eff it, I'll just get a civic."

At that very moment, all that inspiration and motivation to dump wads of cash into my car blew up. Then the NASIOC goes on maintenance and I am no longer able to get to the part where he's all like "JUST KIDDING GUYS."

What a terrible night...

^ This is great. What a well scripted soap-opera you created Ben.
BTW, very much enjoy every build entry effort you put in

LOL. I hope the let down just made the rebuild even more inspiring! Just think of it as a cliffhanger, haha.

how long was the car down for? was it just from the beginning of the drama until you you posted the pics or were you in the middle of it when you decided to make the other 3g owners suicidal?

I know, I think it's going to be a while before I head down the path he's going. I'm just going to give Ben some time to work out the kinks in all the modifications he is doing. It seems like he's well on his way to finding the perfect formula to crank out a monster daily driver.

I'm going to just try and keep it safe and take it as far as stage 2 for the time being (stage 2 is pretty safe right?). My favorite part is that the exterior gives nothing away as far as the hulk it's hiding underneath the scoopless hood. A true sleeper indeed.

The real question is when you went to the Honda dealership, if in fact you did go, did you actually see anything interesting?
