Exclamation Moto GP coverage this weekend - CBS

The race is the first of 3 this year to air on CBS (1:30 pm eastern). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will be in high-def. Watching the SD coverage on Speed is painful.

Mladin rides in the US AMA Superbike series - 1000cc street-based sportbikes. MotoGP is an international series, limited to 800cc one-off bikes, and is the most elite two-wheeled contest in the world.

Nice! yeah, hi-def would be better, but national TV is great! I cancelled speed channel, so this will be the first race I can watch all year.

What he said. MotoGP is basically the motorcycle equivalent of Formula 1. AMA Superbike is like... touring cars?

I would say CART, probably top of US ranks.

True, but I was going with the 'highly modified prodution vehicle' angle.

But if you go at that angle you can't compare MGP to F1.

MotoGP bikes and Formula 1 cars are one-off specially designed racing vehicles. Superbikes and touring cars start off with production vehicles as a basis. That was my point.

Interesting. My cable provider shows an entry for HD.

I just hope the commentators do a better job then what their F1 guys did

I literally ended up turning down the volume and listening to music because of the idiot commentators. If I recall correctly "and he is passed by... uh, that other guy". Stupid Derek Daily!

Hmmm, my provider doesn't show it will be HD, and it doesn't appear at http://www.hdsportsguide.com/

Although it seems every NASCAR event is in HD.

MONTMELO, SPAIN, JUNE 9: There's a reason you can't find Sunday's Catalunyan Grand Prix in the SPEED listings; it's not there. Instead this is the first of three races to be broadcast by CBS, with expert commentary by former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz.

CBS will also broadcast the June 30 Dutch TT at Assen and the July 15 German GP at the Sachsenring, one week before the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Sunday's hour-long program will be broadcast at 1:30 EDT on CBS. Schwantz was to arrive in Catalunya on Saturday after spending the previous week taking part in the Isle of Man Centenary festivities.

i know the motogp will be more overall fun to watch. but watching hamilton get better and better...as well as heidfeld, is kind of a hoot too.

Probably, but I'd like to see Casey Stoner on the Ducati make a last lap pass on Valentino for the checkered flap.
