Hey guys! I mostly post in the OBS thread, but I have a question, what kind of oil do you guys run in our NA engines?

And to provide something to the present topic....

Yah, those are the best ones for the price. If you can wait and save more then go for others. But BCs are the way to go

Would you recommend 5w-40 Rotella T6? For some reason all the Subie guys around here live by it. But it's against the recommended weight on the Subaru cap and it's typically used in diesel trucks so thr doesn't sound like the right option but of course I know nothing about oil. I do drive about 50% "spirited" at mid to high rpms.

I run Mobile1 5w-30 oil and filter but plan on switching to AMSoil OE grade 5w-30 next time around. On Subaru 2.5i N/A motors it's actually recommended that our cars run 0w-20 oil if using a full synthetic blend... I don't bother to run that thin of an oil but, do any of you?

Its more of a personal opinion, but I believe Rotella T6 would be as good as any fully synthetic oil on the market (Pennzoil, Castrol, etc).

I believe Turbocharged guys need the 5w-40 because Turbo'd engines run at higher idling temps than we see in a N/A car. Without the ability to maintain efficiency of the oil viscosity, it can cause major damage to the engine.

Weird.. Wouldn't the ratings account for both convetional and fully synthetic...??

Seems like a great way to blow an engine using 0w-20 throughout the year.

I wouldn't be hurting anything running a full synthetic 5w-30 all year right? Pittsburgh weather, about average of 75ish during the summer, average 30ish in the winter?

The Subaru dealer recommends 5w40 cuz of the weather conditions but with all my cars, and pretty much everyone else here runs 5w30 with no probs.....I'm about to switch but Idk if ima jump the gun. We average about 82-90some degrees daily

I'm in mi and I run mobile full syn 5w-30 all year with no problems. Been doin it for past year and half. I've ran valvoline full syn in other cars with no problem but in this car it started ticking real bad. Also don't use mobile syn extended performance. It's junk....at 3k it was black and a quart low

Amsoil OEM synthetic 5w-30 and Subaru filter for me. Yes, still changing at like 3750 miles per Subaru recommended intervals. Have kicked around idea of the longer life Amsoil synthetic, but just can't bring myself to leave oil in the car that long...

And, of course, don't forget the Fumoto drain valve if you are doing your own oil changes! http://www.fumotousa.com/

I'm having trouble linking directly to the pic, but follow this link and take a look at the chart. I don't know about you, but 5w30 fits the bill for everything my car will see and then some.

I decided to paint my grill dark grey yesterday. I actually used plastidip as primer so I can always take it off if I want to.

well, its personal preference like i mentioned. Although you think it will fit the bill, I would personally go with 0w during winter season if hes averaging 30 degrees f. because that could range from 10-50 degrees f.

Hey guys here's a lil update:

I got a sweet deal on a seibon wrx/sti spoiler that I couldnt pass up. Overall fit is great, and the quality of the spoiler is excellent as well. I like the CF look for now but may end up plastidipping then painting over it down the road. My plan for each area is as listed below:
Suspension: koni's with some RCE yellow springs w/ 09 wrx struts, whiteline positive power kit bushings, Front control arm bushings (all), and gearbox positive shift kit!
Exhaust:HP2 Magnaflow resonator in hopes to reduce raspyness after initial startup
Brakes: Install Goodridge SS lines, "" wrx caliper brackets, dba t3 rotors F+R, and HP+ F+R
Wheels/Tires: Enkei PF01's 17x8 +45 w/ 235/40/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
-Sorry for all the info, just thoughtd I'd share my plans
