The first year of a redesign tend to be the worst year, they would need a lot of improvements so a 2015/16 would be better ones. I was going to wait till the 14 but changed my mind and am planning on ordering a 2013 in February.

What spy photos are you referring to ? The article in car and driver stated the exterior shown is not the new design, it was a mechanical example in an impreza shell. I'm sort of on the fence. They typically start ordering for the next model year in the summer right? I plan on ordering in march but if they get some more details out to talk me out of it I may wait.

The articles photos were simply a test mule so it is unlikely that the photos are what is in store for the new redesign. They are simple just experimenting with the new engine and a 6spd. No one will really know what new is to come until mid-late 2013.

Not to mention it's a rather stupid risk to take with a brand new car. I imagine an insurance company might also consider it a good reason not to pay up on a damage claim if you aren't running the correct equipment and run off the road in the ice or snow. |

Secondly, I did not say "my friend" drives with summer tires on. I said "my friends". If there are multiple people who I know who drive around with summer tires on in winter here, that is enough evidence to support that the stock tires are relatively safe to use and probably perform normally when heated up after extended use. The people who I know who drive with stock tires all drive stock or stage 2 GR's with the exception of a guy who currently drives a 500+WHP soon to be 800+WHP evo X. Even he has no problem driving in a couple inches of snow. Now if I lived in the NE, by all means, the first thing I would do would be to buy some winter tires. Anyways, my schedule date has arrived. Should I call my dealer for an update such as if the car is actually at the port or should I wait a few days? I hope I can graduate from this thread soon.
For those of you who recieved your car, how much longer do you think I will have to wait? |

I've been driving on the stock summers for a week now here where the temps are below 10 degrees and haven't had any issues on dry pavement. I have felt significant slipping though in my apartment complex which still has some snow packed.
Is it "safe" to drive on summers all winter long? Technically, no. I feel that even in a blizzard though you would be ok if you drove slow and tried to avoid hills. I personally wouldn't risk it though; my WS70s should be at the dealership today / tomorrow for install so I won't have to worry about it anymore. |

Ordered my 1st STi (Subaru, for that matter) this past Saturday.
4-DR Crystal Black Silica (not Limited) Short shifter Fogs $37,313 out the door VON Issued on 1/2/2013 Arrival date: Month of April Pretty excited. Gonna be a long 3-4 month wait. Is there or Subaru customer service rep./member that can check the status of our order like on other build thread forums? Last edited by SummerallGuard04; 01-02-2013 at 12:39 PM. |

Quick update: Got my OTD price on my STi
$39,975.85, based on car price of $36,503 (invoice) and 8.25% CA sales tax. 5 door PBP STi Navigation STS Homelink Schedule date: Jan 7 ETA: Jan 18 Dealer didn't respond to my request for an update so I'll give SOA a call next week. I figure this late in the process though there's little chance for changing by more than a couple of days so I'm not too worried. Either way I have a trip planned to SoCal for MLK weekend, so if I'm lucky I'll pick it up that Friday (the 18th), and if not get it on my way back on Monday. If it's not in by then I'd have to wait 2 more weeks before heading back down, which would . |

For people that got their WRX/STi already. Is your clutch's catch point really high? Mine is almost close to full release. Like 2/3 of the way up. I'm a new stick driver so I can see why it was a bit harder for me to get used to having to hold the clutch so high up. But I'm getting quite a bit better now that I'm used to this clutch. Just a thought and want to see if anyone else think alike. |
