Hopefully in a few weeks I will have my car dyno tuned and can post up some results. One thing I'm doing that I did not notice on anyone's post is the tgv deletes.

2004 2.0L motor in a 2003 WRX with mfactory 1-4 gears and stock fifth. Pull was done in fourth gear due to how short the transmission is. Work was done by Engine Logics in Houston, TX and the tune / pull on their dynodynamics lowboy dyno.

evo III 16g, 850cc deatschwerks injectors, short ram intake, 4" dp going to 3" (still have cat) and to prodrive oval catback (2.5"?). TurboXS old school top mount. 93 octane.

250hp / 245ish tq. @ 19psi goes to about 17-18 at redline. Uncorrected numbers.

I was a little disappointed, but the tuner mentioned two needs, better intercooling and a more freeflowing exhaust setup as the motor was pulling timing towards redline and he was fighting that.

Also - he has had guys come in with '600hp' cobras, ford gt's and other supposed beasts and everyone leaves disappointed. I am not as concerned with the number, the car feels nice, smooth and is reliable.

I have a stubborn goal now to make this turbo / motor combination as efficient as possible... next steps to be done this year:

-exhaust (but I LOVE the way the prodrive sounds... thinking about a boost activated cutout)
-p&p intake / turbo / headers
-tgv deletes
-alcohol injection
-would an external wastegate have any benefits on a turbo this size?

Anything else reccommended to help spool / power without changing turbo or fuel type?

What was the correction factor used on the dyno. If it was 1.0 then your doing good man.

Did they put a fan ontop of the TMIC?

The Pdrive is killing the top end. You gotta ditch it. Get a Greddy EVO exhaust. Its not loud at all and its 3 inch. Otherwise, A cutout will help. I used the ATP boost actuated one several times and made 10 to 20 whp depending on the exhaust the car had.

EXgate would solve all the issues with the prodrive exhaust. However, Its loud as hell when on boost. So that is up to you. Typical gains are 10 to 20whp with an external gate.

Also.. You did not mention if this was a stock motor and how many miles on it. You might need to carbon clean it. These 2.0s really carbon up bad. After the cleaning they tend to take full timing. Plugs should be new NGK one step colder and gapped to 026.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

Motor = completely stock
Correction factor = 1.0
Finally got back home and here's the plot:

I really like the ATP cutout, and will look into the EVO exhaust. My tuner was against spending on an EWG at this point since that acts upstream of the turbo and wouldn't help my exhaust flow issues - which made sense to me at the time, do you disagree?

Regarding the carbon cleaning - is this just general Seafoaming? About how often (miles) do you reccommend something like this for the 2.0L?

Again, thanks for the help/advice,

Sid

i did equal length headers, ewg, and 3 port bcs all at once, so not sure exactly what helped, but wow it spools like a rocket, and more power down low for sure. also better off boost throttle response. with the meth on top of that, (old smc kit with m15 nozzle) the car is a rocket. our turbos start to shine if you can get the psi to the low to mid 20's. i also have a high mileage 2.0 motor, almost 180,000 miles, the last 7,000 of which were on clark's tunes.

hoping to go back and get retuned i posted on the first page with 329whp and 311wtq
but just installed grimmspeed uppipe with tial 38mm mvs ewg. hoping to pull another
20whp or so out of it and get me to my happy 350whp mark. do you think this is possible. going to still run 20psi, right running off spring pressure which is 16psi untuned but still pulls hard and sounds amazing.

If you are going to stick with 20 PSI, you are going to need to add timing and fuel on 93 octane. If you turn up the boost and add a bit more timing/fuel it shouldn't be far off from 350 on a Dynojet.... Get it retuned and re-dyno'd and let us know.

How does one go about this carbon cleaning? Is it a fuel additive or something?

Seafoam through a vacuum hose and an oil change.

I just made a big post in the misfire thread in the 2.5 forum. Find it, I explain how to clean the carbon out. It makes a big difference..

The EX gate is bypassing exhaust that would have normaly went through the turbocharger and out the tailpipe. Your tuner must be confused. Most of the gains of the EX gate come from the fact that you reduce the pressure inside your full exhaust system. Typical gains are 10 to 20hp with some higher. It depends on how restrictive your exhaust is and it depends on what the limiting factor is on your setup.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1872533

That's mine from last year. Not having TGV deletes, stock gutted up, and 2.5" from dp back, and that ****ty SPT short ram was killing me.

Next weekend the APS 70mm CAI, Hallman Pro MBC, GS 38mm EWG, and TGV deletes go on, then the new tune the following weekend. Already put on the Perrin LWCP, and full 3" exhaust.

So hoping to keep the boost right where it is and get some more power. Would like to up the torque

Also, Clark do you recommend the colder plugs?

Mod list?

I'm in the process of a similar build, but will be running 93oct. I havent seen many hybrid swapped WRX's running Evo III's. Trying to get a feel of the power it will be making, (still on a factory tranny)

So just got back from getting tuned by Doug from topspeed and I'm very happy with my tune. Last time with siegel I made 329whp/311wtq. This time on the same dyno I made 326whp/300wtq. I did change from my eBay headers back to stock and replaced my eBay up with a grimmspeed up with tial 38mm ewg. Ran it at 20pdi again on 93oct. It runs alot smoother now since the boost isn't spiking like it was. I'm happy with it. I will post my graph as soon as I can.

Rubbish.

Ive got 350 to the wheels on a Prodrive 2.5" axleback, (round tip but they are pretty identical)

No evidence of it holding me back whatsoever.

External gate?

We yanked these 2.5s off many times for 3 inch and always gained power. Dyno does not lie.
