Default KYB 341276 does not fit 04-06 Baja

So I did a bit of research before buying KYB 341276 (00-04 Outback) and everything lead me to believe they would fit the rear of my 05 Baja but in reality they don't. I'm just putting this out there so that if anyone else is looking at sourcing rear shocks that aren't from Subaru you won't make the same mistake I did with these.

I'm gonna have to try to resell these as I've had them too long to return them, sigh.

I feel your Baja pain. Fortunately for you there were way more outbacks sold. So someone will want those struts.
Thanks for the info too.

I must say that I am surprised for a few reasons.

First of all I based my purchase on a few things.

I researched the Baja springs and saw on an Outback forum that someone had upgrade their Outback springs with Baja Springs but kept the Outback shocks. I also saw a picture of the Baja and outback springs side by side and they were the same hight but different girth.

Second I also looked at the Monroe`s available for the Baja, they listed that they also work on 00-04 Outback. I assumed that if they also work on the 00-04 outback then the reverse should also be true.

The outback shock is shorter, not by much, but it`s shorter. the shaft might be 3/4 inch shorter on the outback and the caseing is also shorter but it doesn`t make much of an impact on overall length staying at about 3/4 inch shorter.

Everything is is pretty much the same, It would bolt up that`s for sure. You`d have to compress the baja spring a lot in order to regain that 3/4 inch difference.
