Default help me pass smog!

Ok so I bought an 02 wrx with an ej207 longblock swap and I need to smog it. I'm going to be putting back the stock airbox, uppipe, turboback, intercooler, turbo, injectors, etc. so it will look completely stock. My main concern is the ecu. I plan on using a stock 02 usdm wrx ecu and clear the tgv codes with my tactrix cable and then getting smogged, completely legit. Does this sound like it'll work?

to pass the smog, all you need is stock turbo and stock intake and stock exhaust.

There are certain contacts that could smog it for about $200-$250... Would save you the hassle of swapping everything over.

jdm ecu will not work b/c there is no evap system in japan so it will show as not ready when connected to the computer...but it sounds like it will work as long as u can keep the tgv codes from coming up...

I reset my ECU and took my car in for a smog and the computer freaked out. The shop dude said to go drive 30miles and come back. I did that and then the smog computer worked fine.

I realize this isnt the same deal. But I would think that with the codes not showing up at all, would cause the smog computer to freak out too.

I dunno though. Best of luck to you man!

I'd rather swap everything out than pay an additional $200-250.

So I guess I HAVE to use the usdm ecu then, right? But I don't think it'll be safe to run the stock settings, so I'll need a tune too?
so djennison... you're saying if I clear the codes, that'll mess up their smog computer?

not always true. I got smogged by the ref from an undisclosed city in socal with a gt30-12, perrin inlet, 800cc injectors and tune.
they also noticed the mods and this was a citacion smog.

as long as your smog stuff is in place, like cats, intake being legal and stock exhaust you should be ok.

Car needs to idle properly hold rpms as well. stock boost controller is important as well. Your jdm ecu is going to mess you up though, it might or not might read. best of luck though.

Ok so the REAL question is:

Jdm ecu?
or
Usdm ecu w/ cleared tgv codes?

Just wanted everyone to know that I passed with everything stock except the longblock and tgv deletes. I used enginuity to get rid of the dtcs and it worked like a charm.

Whats your reason for getting smogged? Did you get a notice from DMV to be smog tested?
