Great stuff Unabomber!!

This was very informative and the only place I could find the Stock rim weight (w/out the rubber) after like 20 minutes of Google'ing in everything keyword I could think of for stock WRX parts.

Thanks +1

Nope. 05+ STI wheels are the wrong bolt pattern, and won't fit.

^no. 05+Sti has 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

If you want bbs wheels you need to look for 04 sti since it has 5x100 bolt pattern just as wrx's...

are you saying that subaru was wrong to use the +55 offset tires on the 2006-2007 stock wrx wheels when you said 7.0" wide should equal +50 to +53 offsets? and actually i just noticed it would be wrong for the two types of STi wheels as well.

I just weighed some '04 STI BBS's. I started a thread in the wheels and tires section, but the jist of it was that they weighed 15.7 pounds each. Has anyone else weighed their rims?

Can you type that again in english? Are you saying you think an offset within 2 inches of stock is fine? Because that's not even a little bit right.

Data for Unabomber's Wheel FAQ:

2008 WRX Wheel - Mine weighs ~23.2 lbs with the tire pressure monitor sensor and weights on the wheel. The particular wheel I weighed did not have a ton of weights on it.

My conclusion is the result from taking Bridgestone's stated weight of a new tire, as found here:
http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tires...roduct_ID=1089

and subtracting it from the total weight of the wheel/tire/TPMS assembly as I found here:

Just trying to help. Not 100% accurate wheel-only weight, but it is close. Better than ???, I suppose.

Whenever you deviate outside the recommended offset range, you are going to increase the stress placed upon the hub and wheel bearing. Increased stress will lead to decreased longevity (life) of the part.

I wish there was a simple way to explain how 18" wheels can be lighter then 17" wheels if you are keeping the overall stock circumference due to tire weight. I dont think a lot of people understand this...

Good sticky regardless though...Reported to mods...

well the thread sai If your wheel width and offset is within this chart or close (+/- 2mm), your wheels have the proper offset and 8in wide in the chart said 43 - i think 45. well i got 18 x 8 with a 40 mm off set

you say the correct offset for 8.0" width wheel is +43 to +47, yet the OEM '06 STI BBS wheel is 17 x 8 with a +53mm offset??
