Default confused?

Hey guy, I don't mean to be a hipocrate or be negative in any way but lately I've been seeing tons of FS threads with members selling there fully built wrx/sti, that have spent tens of thousands of $ on building these beautiful machines/ works of art and most of them have less than 10k miles on a built motor. It just boggles my mind. Why start such an extensive project, spend all this money, and then sell it 5 months later. Your supose to keep it like its a family heirloom.

Financial issues or it needs even more work and the money issues have forced them to lose that initial excitement about the project.

Having done a few projects myself (69 cutlass, 79 Bronco, 93 Probe), sometimes you just lose interest and spending tons of cash does not help.

My subie has been great compared to those previous projects. Its is my DD and a project.

My next one is an older Porsche, but I have not found the right one yet and my wife might kill me if it shows up on the driveway.

C/N: People underestimate the cost, time and scope of the project. People get tired of doing said project or life occurs and they realize dumping major $$ in to an econobox car is not the best choice for them.

There are a lot of excellent project cars and innovative people on this forum. Building a bad ass car is not for everyone.

I bet at least one got in over their head on the costs. And then there are some people who do it just for the build, when its done they want to start over again with a new project.

Some people also get caught up in the "what's next" stage and never enjoy what they have. Once the project is done, they're bored. It's why I tend to do mods one at time and enjoy them for a while before moving to the next thing.

Making a car like that usually costs more than projected in the beginning. Chances are they just keep dumping money into the car to get it done, and once they've spent twice what they originally planned on spending and get the car done, they're in some sort of financial crisis (or less than ideal financial situation) and the 500whp "work of art" in the driveway just doesn't seem like it was worth all that in the end. So they sell it because the cash is more useful at the moment. Could be one end of it I guess.
