Default Ford to launch five electric models by 2013

Quote:
Ford announced that it will launch five electric models by 2013: battery-electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In 2011 the American manufacturer wants to launch the pure electric Transit Connect, then a full-electric Focus in 2012 as well as full hybrid versions of the Focus but also the next-generation Mondeo by 2013. Ford will also build a hybrid plug-in model, big chances to be based on Focus, in 2013.

Wow, the rear of that Focus wagon really looks like a current-gen Legacy wagon. An EV version of that would be tempting for me. The car market seems like it'll look totally different in five years... so much change we're just nearing the crest of.

Plans are cheap. Wake me up when the cars are in the dealerships, ready for Joe Sixpack to purchase.

The only difference is, Ford is actually DOING the stuff they've said they were going to do... and doing a great job in the process.

GM has been saying since 2007 that the Volt would hit the market in 2010. AFAIK they are still on track to make that target in November.

Either way... crap styling!

I loved the Conan "In the Year 3000" bit when they said:

"GM will still not understand how to make cars America wants, as evidenced by the debut of the new Chevrolet Scrotum."

Although if it debuts in November it will be a 2011. Not a big deal considering there won't be any other competitors in the same price range. (at least for a while)
