Hey.. my engine check ligh started poping on lately.. first was giving me ODB-2 scan code 133, which was OXY sensor problem.. i did repaced both oxygen sensors just to be sure.. and now came back on with code "420"... Meaning that catalytic converter performance less than treshold.. or something like that.. any ideas?

Do you have any mods? The 420 (rear sensor) will not effect the ECU in any way. Sometimes a mod to the exhaust will do that. You can get an MIL spoofer. I have one but haven't installed it yet. I thought it was my rear O2 sensor turns out to be the front one.

Nope.. i don't have any mods to intake or exhaust system.

I did replaced both sensors at the same time, bought new ones from the dealer.. it was ok for about week, then it came back on again...

front Oxy sensor was made by bosh.. was b#@ch to replace.. rear one was fine.. and i made sure they are on tight..

how many miles do you have.

emission parts are covered for 8 years 80,000 miles, federal standard. PCMs too.

Take it to the dealer.

here is the law.

2. Clean Air Act Warranty Provisions (42 U.S.C. S 7541 (C) (3) (B))

The federal Clean Air Act requires vehicle makers to provide two emissions-related warranties -- a production warranty and a performance warranty. The production warranty requires the vehicle maker to warrant that the vehicle is designed, built and equipped so that it conforms with emissions requirements at the time of sale. The performance warranty requires the vehicle maker to warrant that the vehicle will comply with applicable emissions requirements as tested under state vehicle emissions inspection programs for the warranty periods specified in the law (for model year 1995 and later vehicles, the warranty is 2 years/24,000 miles for all emissions-related parts and 8 years/80,000 miles for the catalytic converter, electronic emissions control unit and on-board diagnostic device). The performance warranty is conditioned on the vehicle being properly maintained and operated.

Is this your first time receiving the 0420? I got this code over the summer after re-oiling my K&N filter. I had to clear the code twice.

I've driven about 6,000 miles since, and the CEL never came back. I'd just reset it and see if it passes.

i'll check the exhaust system to make sure nothing got damaged over the winter and wait a while, its only 2nd time it came on.. but the interval seems to be more than a week from the 1st time.. will see what happens after I do clear the code.
